When your opponent attacks a face-up Attack Position monster you control: Make that attack a direct attack instead, and inflict damage to your opponent equal to the ATK of the attack target you control. In addition, the monster you control can attack your opponent directly during your next turn.

This definitely needs a buff, since right now it's just a weaker Magic Cylinder that hurts you. Your opponent won't attack monsters that have more ATK than the attackers, so Cylinder does more damage in pretty much every scenario.

The point of it (in the anime) is to get off effects that trigger when a monster inflicts battle damage or attack directly in addition to of course saving the monster from destruction by battle. So if it did keep its original text you could use it with something like Don Zaloog to force a discard.

Err well.... it's not great but it's a slight buff from the anime considering you can't have a monster inflicting Battle Damage during your opponent's turn, so nice to know you have a second shot. 

Now where are the Cyber Angels?

With no external intervention, this card amounts to your opponent taking double the ATK of a monster you control as damage.

 

Now, as unlikely as it is that your opponent wouldn't stop a direct attack, it seems like a fun card for a deck where you need something to not be destroyed by battle.

 

Or as a side against Dustons (pfft). They can't crash Houseduston, and you get to deal lots of damage to them.
