[Celebrating 4000 Posts] Shooting Quasar Dragon

1 Tuner Synchro Monster + 2 or more non-Tuner Synchro Monsters

Must be Synchro Summoned, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. This card's maximum number of attacks per turn equals the number of non-Tuner monsters used as its Synchro Material. Once per turn, when a card or effect is activated: You can negate the activation and destroy it. When this card leaves the field: You can Special Summon 1 "Shooting Star Dragon" from your Extra Deck.

Evilfusion am I allowed to hijack this into a Halberd Cannon topic?

OT: Obviously the better of the level 12s, and replacing himself when he dies is pretty nice too. I'm just realizing that spinning him also gets Shooting Star, I thought he had to die.

It's certainly worth comparing Halberd to this.

Here's what always bugged me, though. Quasar and Halberd were released not TOO far apart from one another. They require 100% identical investment. They need a Synchro Tuner and 2 non-Tuner Synchros as Material equal to Level 12.

Quasar is a win condition in itself. You Summon it, you probably win right then and there. Considering the investment outside of specific combos that do ridiculous stuff, Quasar is what such investment deserves: A win.

Of course...since some Decks and combos drop it for laughable effort...this is problematic. You could argue Quasar does too much. It can attack two (or more) times with a 4000 body. That's 8000 damage right there. It can negate any activation of a Spell/Trap/Monster Effect for no cost whatsoever. And if you do somehow get rid of it, it's replaced with a 3300 beater with a free destruction negation (but can't be SSed if it leaves the Field).

Halberd got shafted badly. Its effect isn't BAD, to negate Summons for free...and it has a 4000 body, but it lacks Quasar's protection effect. Also, when you kill Halberd, you Special Summon a T.G. Synchro from the Graveyard. Unlike Quasar, who pulls Shooting Star from the Extra Deck, Halberd's last act relies completely on previous investment. And unless you randomly Summoned Blade Blaster, the best you're probably going to get from Halberd is a 2400 Librarian that requires you to do more Synchroing to have a use.

So yeah...Quasar blows Halberd away so much that Halberd is just bad.

Wow, you have more posts than I do?  Neat.

Actually, now I have the same.  And I messed the Title up.  Thought I had 4K points, but it's actually POSTS, that I've got 4K of.

Had to choose something with 4K attack, so...

OT: In all my YGO career, I've actually never had to go up against this in a duel (at least that I can remember).

Also, 5D's feels getting back to me. Damn, I miss 5D's.

Same, 5Ds was a fantastic series, with so many great characters like Dark Glass/Antinomy, Aporia, etc.

Its the one card I'm glad we don't have in the UK. Surprising they still haven't reprinted it.

I'm surprised they haven't reprinted as well.

Although with Rekindling @1, I'd have been glad to have it come over here. Shame that Soul Charge exists now.

Why do I get the feeling Konami keeps trying to find ways to play this card with very little effort?

Yusei vs 'Antinomy', man.

That might be the case....

I just found this last night

Stop watching him. He's a piece of shit.

And combos like that are old news, really. Marauding Captain + Lonefire is a thing, too. As is spell striker + lonefire, provided you upstarted or something. And so on.

I watch him to laugh at his inferiority.

Still bad to, on the basis that he's not funny in the slightest and even hearing stupid shit can cause you to subconsciously believe it, if you hear it enough.

Plus watching him at all encourages him to continue, so.

Meh, maybe for some. I revel in watching people think they are good/right when they are bad/wrong as if it were a comedy routine. Same reason I watch YYC's livestreams occasionally, he loses spectacularly and gets really pissy.

But alas, I am off topic. Quasar is a very neat wincon, but these days I would call it impractical. Far to easy to bait.
