Tie or no tie?

I'm going to an informal "interview" at a pub I may work at. Don't want to overdress, but on the other hand there's nothing wrong with looking smart either. More and more men are wearing jackets and smart trousers casually these days, and I look freaking swanky all dressed up if I do say so myself.

As I said, it's not a formal interview as such but I'm inclined to treat it as one. I sent the manager my CV and she told me to come and chat to her when I'm next in the area, so we arranged Friday.

I'd wear a Shapesnatch bow tie in my head. Why not?

OT:
It depends. Suit with no tie looks formal but not too formal. Add in the tie and you suddenly might be too formal for the occation, so just read the situation on a case by case basis.

no tie makes u look a lot more casual and relaxed.

dont listen to this people. for gods sake the interview is in a pub. dont wear a tie.

actually you would look ridiculous with a tie if you ask me.

Yeah, I'm not going to for this occasion. Just been dying to break my fancy clothes out and haven't had a chance yet :'(

Might wear chinos and a shirt but everyone seems to hate chinos right now (why?) so maybe just smart jeans instead.

I... wasn't expecting to say this, but Hypebeast is right on the money with this. You dress for interview according to the role you're applying for.

Today I went for an interview in a hotel for a reception role, so smartened up with white shirt and tie. Tomorrow I'm (possibly) going to another hotel for a interview for bar and restaurant staff, for which I will be black shirting it up and no tie.

One time (when I was a lot younger) I went to a group interview/training/induction thing for a marketing research call centre. I went all suited up thinking that was the done thing. Everyone else was in shirt and jeans, and I looked a proper pillock. (Ps: NEVER work in a call centre that does market research. It's horrid.)

Best of luck for your interview

you might wanna wear a blazer over that shirt. just no tie.

actually come to think about it it all depends on what YOU can pull off.

I'll try both and see what I think looks best. Jackets make me look slimmer so that's a perk.

It's a cardinal sin for one to wear a suit without being hung by the neck until he is dead.
