In the past there have been censorship attempts at some words and even elementary school kids would either know what the beeping sound's word was, or could come up with a dozen variations of curse words to insert in there. I guess it'd be a start if they want to clear next generation's vocabulary before it gets corrupted with curse words, but if we take a step, or rather, a ton of steps back, there is something I'm curious about: What's so bad about hearing those words exactly? They are all usually insults with intent to harm, but not all the time. How are they set apart from the rest of the vocabulary and how does it really harm anyone to know they exist? I used to be pretty much a puritan when it comes to language back in elementary school. I'd even stop myself mid-sentence to avoid saying curse words. I only really gained that people thought I was awkward/lame/mentally challenged and that I didn't know how to reply in a proper way when I didn't even know what most of the commonly used curse words even meant. It didn't help that I was already very shy and quiet as it was. All in all, it gave me the hardest transition during middle school into listening other classmates and making embarrassing questions about those words, to eventually get to a more "normal" level. My tongue still twists a bit every time I have to use a curse word. It is necessary to use them at times. Not often, but it happens. Just a thought. I don't like using curse words myself and always avoid them if possible. Pretty much the same way I talk here in the internet, except I have more time to think about what I'm writing here, can edit my posts, and people don't interrupt me mid-way or tell me they didn't hear..... *shrugs* other than that I'm more or less the same.
