Azuh
New book title obviously... So yeah, FLIP monsters become an official sub-type now in the TCG. Wasn't there one also for Special Summon-only monsters in the OCG? Anyways, discuss the card, it has some neat applications actually
Nathanael D. Striker
Can't they just get rid of the FLIP: part of the effect now that the sub-type exists?
evilfusion
Can't they just get rid of the FLIP: part of the effect now that the sub-type exists? You'd think so, but what if there are Flip Effect monsters who have effects that activate when flipped, and another effect unrelated to being flipped? Airride
...Isn't Snowman Eater better 90% of the time? ...Or Ryko?
Sleepy
I like how their "1st Edition" part is no longer under the image, to make it orderly with how Pendulum Cards don't have such a space to put stuff at. Though I still think the copyright "Kazuki Takahashi 1996" should just go on the back of the card since it's one of those things that is always constant in absolutely every card. Then maybe they could start including some artist credit in there. What's the 8-digit number for anyways? Iirc someone 10 years ago told me it was this (back then)awesome feature where you plugged it into the video games to get the digital versions of the card, but that sounds terribly outdated by today's standards... I should go look it up on Google. On Topic: Konami made sure it is perfectly clear they don't want any of these Starter Deck cards to make it to relevance. Other than Supply Unit and the Pendulums that is. We got FLIP monsters that destroy less targets than Ryko, have less of a DEF than Snowman Eater, or have no ways to floating into the field like Old Vindictive Magician does (just to mention something that doesn't step into Shadoll level of floaters here). Then cards like the Spearrow Summoner and that Arnis monster, whose condition of "destroyed by battle", "opponent's attacking monster" and "Summon in Attack Position" are far too limited for nowadays as if their Type and ATK not matching to make them synergic targets wasn't enough of a drawback. They are more just for new players to learn really basic stuff, and for experienced players to screw around and have fun before dismantling the deck for Pendulums and Supply Units to go into custom decks. I tried it with my brother yesterday and the deck's mirror match is rather slow paced and does give a number of possible plays to flip the table, unlike the old OLD Starter Decks from Yugi's time where it was "draw into the 2 or 3 power spells" or "drew a monster with more ATK after 5 turns of Setting a junky wall and passing". Slinky
Does this mean we can get the old Royal Command back now?
Darj
Now that Flip is an official subtype, I wish they get more support in addition to Night Assailant and the lame Soul Reversal. Yeah, I know it is a slippery slope because any Flip support they make could also support Shaddolls, but still, Flips deserve a bit more of attention in my opinion.
