[ANIME] Raid Raptors - Revolution Falcon

? Level 6 monsters
When this card is Xyz Summoned, if it has a "Raid Raptors" monster(s) as an Xyz Material: You can target 1 Special Summoned monster your opponent controls; destroy that target, and if you do, inflict damage to your opponent equal to half the destroyed monster's ATK.

Yeah, this is the Rank 6 Shun summons + presumably beats Sora with.

Discuss.

Considering Blaze Falcon was a worthy step up from Rise Falcon, it's likely this guy sweeps harder than both of them or endures during the opponent's turn a lot better. I wish it was full damage instead of halved though considering the effort you go through to make it. ... You know, unless you just use Astral Force. Even then...

Also I like how all of Shun's Xyzs are sweepers against strong adversity. Problem is, this one barely fits the bill at the moment.

It probably has another effect, because it doesn't use its Overlay Unit.

Obviously it should have, it is awful right now, however number 69 looked like this in the duel between kaito and tron, or am I wrong ?

Number 69 seemed very mediocre and then was filled with a ton of useful effects (unlike this card the assumption was made because one could see the real version at that time, however we haven't even seen the card of this monster in the anime, so we cannot be sure that this would be everything this monster can do).

As it is atm, it's actually worse than the monster he ranked-up to summon it, so it's overlay effect had better be the second coming of slifer to make this card any good. I really want this archetype to be better, all the monsters look so cool :(

Also, side note... why doesn't it have any legs?

I still think 69's Sakuretsu Armor effect should have made it into the RL version, especially since IRL C69 has the beefed-up version.

Yeah, No.69 could have been better in release, either with some variant of "pop a card when attacked", or by negating at a time other than "upon Summon". That said, No.69 is still good...just not good enough. C69 at least didn't get nerfed at all.

Odds are, next time Shun Duels, we'll see more monsters and more ways to Rank-Up, since this may be his primary strategy that until now was being hidden. He does seem like a character whose strategy develops more with each Duel. First full Duel he had showcased Rise Falcon. This Duel showcased his Rank-Up strategy.

Next duel showcases where he summons nothing but main deck monsters.

inb4 he Ranks Up to 7 and beyond next Duel, a la Eliphas.

Speaking of Eliphas, Shun's Rank-Up shenanigans are somewhat reminiscient of his own dueling tactics.

That's true; Eliphas/Shun are drawing parallels with each other as of the recent episode; well, except for the fact Shun used separate RUMs + stole his opponent's monsters (well, it was HIS Blaze Falcon) to Rank-Up, whereas Eliphas recycled Astral several times + on his own monsters, but still same principle (multiple Rank-Up).

@Dyson: Yeah, hopefully Shun gets more Main Deck monsters in later episodes. Shun's Deck can't be only Rainius and whatever backrow/stuff he showed so far; unless writers really want him to keep spamming that monster for Rise, etc.

OT: Revolution Falcon needs another effect to make it worth running. Popping an SSed monster + burning is okay and all, but considering what RRs have to work with, really doesn't seem like the effort to go into it; considering that one of the other Xyzs is mandatory. Plus, a 2000 ATK body won't last long against a lot of monsters (we still don't know its DEF, guessing its 2000 like the others)

Then again, just use 61 if you want to pop something + burn; doesn't have Archetype restriction, blows up any monster [whether it's SSed or not] twice, assuming both materials, and full damage, though this CAN attack when it destroys something.
