Fiend/Fusion/Effect

1 "Edge Imp Saw" + 1 "Fluffal" monster
Must be Fusion Summoned and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. You can target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; destroy it, and if you do, inflict damage to your opponent equal to the destroyed monster's original ATK. This card cannot attack directly the turn you activate this effect. You can only use this effect of "Frightfur Leo" once per turn.

Well... I'm intrigued to see how Edge Imp Saw will turn out now, discuss?

Oh god, they're slowly loosening the restrictions on Volcasauruses.

Also, good card is good, requiring generic fluffal makes this a wonderful choice, also Saw's a really accesssible card after all so this would be easy enough to summon.

Well, I guess this also means that Edge Imp Saw is confirmed. Pretty decent addition, I can now see people using King of the Swamp in this Deck now, unless Saw is good of course.

Don't forget that Saw's anime effect is a mini graceful/turning a Fluffal in hand into pot of greed on NS, pretty much. As long as they don't completely butcher it (as most slight nerfs would still make it quite good), I have high hopes for Saw's irl effect.

I hope they change it to be any card instead, Fluffal monster in the Graveyard is not that great.

Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; destroy that opponent's monster, and if you do, inflict damage to your opponent equal to the destroyed monster's original ATK. This card cannot attack your opponent directly during the turn you activate this effect.

Err... Volca had pretty much the same "cannot attack directly" clause on it though.

If Saw is unnerfed, or hell, buffed, there is now no real excuse for not playing Fusion Reserve at this point, if it wasn't being used already that is. I haven't played Fluffals after all.

A chainable searcher for Sabres (or, on odd occasions, Bear for Toy Vendor shenanigans) that also gets back a Poly? Yes you'd run it.

I could see Saw getting the Dog/Owl treatment, hard OPT but on Normal or Special from hand.

The fact we know Saw is now a card is highly interesting and quite a prominent point about this card.
As for the effect; they didn't really hurt it too much outside of they gave it a hard once per turn clause; they know full well Fluffals could summon a bunch of these in a turn.
Regardless, this card is still beautiful.

Honestly, as-is, I'd almost rather have Leo be the specific material and have the first require an Edge-Imp in general/Have saw be named Sabres, because unless they make Saw/Chain capable of being searched by Dog/Vendor in place of Sabres, it's...

It's really stupid design to introduce them themed around Sabres... Then release unsearchable edge-imps two packs later. That's not planning 6 months ahead. It's incredibly dumb to see that Saw is likely unsearchable, especially when it's only decent as-is. When are you going to want to NS it outside of a hand where you're in the gutter? The deck doesn't have enough ability to run backrow to warrant it over a Dog/TGU/Owl normal summon. Two of which can be Toy Vendored out, but still.

And yes, Fusion Reserve exists, but that's slow and doesn't help the previously mentioned issue at all. Making it searchable wouldn't break it when it lacks the ability to guarantee plays like Dog/Owl in a deck already overly NS-reliant in hands that aren't perfect.

On top of everything, it's level 7. We knew this, but this means it doesn't give you access to Ptolemy/R6, which the deck appreciates.

It just... Says that the support from here on's potentially going to be less and less consistent or coherent. The level less so, but the Edge-Imp for sure.

Watch them come in on the clutch and fix that by having some weird effect on saw let you add it instead of Sabres

Don't forget the anime included more random Edge Imps that are even less synergetic.

Also makes me wonder if we'll need Edge Imp Chain for Chain Sheep. That was the biggest issue with the newer Frightfurs in the anime: They used different Edge Imps, but the 3 Frightfurs in the TCG/OCG all used Sabres.

Well they gave Sabres's effect a makeover, so I wouldn't be surprised if Chain got one too actually

Chain's effect will most likely be completely different. Any time you see a monster's effect but it wasn't used, it's often because the animator made it up to fill in space.
