Ryusei the Morning Star
Errata: During your 2nd Standby Phase after this card's activation, Draw 2 cards. A comparatively simple Errata. What this does is make Pot of Greed an Investment card You go -1 the turn you activate it, and gain advantage 2 turns later. Thoughts
(GigaDrillBreaker)
So then it becomes a nonterrible shard of greed?
Ryusei the Morning Star
So then it becomes a nonterrible shard of greed? Pretty much, and earns a permanent spot at 1.
Gokai-Red
And now we have a valid reason to explain what pot of greed does...
Wildflame
I'd rather add some Duality/Duplicity type of restrictions, this is weird and just like Shard of Greed. But erratas are dumb anyways.
ihop
But then it wouldn't be pot of greed, it'd be pot of prudence.
Ryusei the Morning Star
That was classy @Hop I was trying to change it as little as possible. It's inverse reckless greed at the moment
ihop
Can I just mention that we shouldn't be looking to errata everything. Erratas are a massive pain in the ass for people because they're not necessarily super common in the one new set they're in and using older prints just leads to confusion in tournaments and plenty of opportunity for sharking. I had to write out the full effect of Crush Card on paper for nats (and damn, it is a long effect) because I was using a Rare one, and whilst this seems like a small sacrifice it's more the fact that if I hadn't done it I could very easily have been sharked and gamelossed which is pretty shit for the game. I'd much rather banned cards kept their old text and new cards were made.

ihop
? That's exactly what it means. You sink resources into it in the hope (well, in this case guarantee) of getting more resources in the long run.
Ryusei the Morning Star
Crush card was changed beyond belief. They do flood the errata however. Like Battle City will give you a easy cheap CCV
Expelsword
This is a guarantee that doesn't cost you anything (other than itself, which all cards do, so that doesn't count). Hardly an "investment". Either way, it's an instant limited staple, but as I've said in every one of these topics, I hate changing card effects. Errata are only supposed to make cards less confusing. When cards like Reborn and Soul Charge aren't even staple why would this be. Like it or not Konami and a good number of players love it

goodfusion
Is there any point errataring Pot of Greed? There are a lot of cards just so similar to it that it seems unnecessary to make another. I mean, we got Chicken Race in the latest booster. Isn't that enough?

VCR_CAT
I'd MUCH rather it be something like: Draw 2 cards, then send 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard. You can only activate 1 "Pot of Greed" per turn.
- Minimania -
So you're making this card having the same relationship with Shard of Greed that Gold Sarcophagus and Different Dimension Capsule have?

You can only activate 1 "Pot of Greed" per turn. Considering Allure of Darkness, which does this but banishes a specific card is limited, and that the easiest way to get this effect currently is to flip up a level 5 monster, this is way too good.
