...the Malicevorous monsters were a mostly failed attempt at creating a Rank 2 engine for Fiend-Type decks.

...to my knowledge, the reason they essentially failed was because of the rather lacking Rank 2 card pool at the time.

...however, they may have a small niche in decks like Burgesstoma.

...please discuss the heretic cutlery trio.

They failed because Konami wanted to, really. Knife could very well have been an Altair, even without the attacking restriction, Fork didn't need the discard, and Spoon could have gotten away without negating the effect of the revived monster.

+0 monsters among themselves, minus if used in any other way and minus anyways when you used them up for the intended Xyz.

Then they serve no other purpose, without good stats or any other perks that give them worthwhile support, and without a decent pool of Rank 2s at the time and arguably still now....

They basically needed to be Rank 2 Satellars to really be anything... or have something more interesting going for them... but then again, ZeXal era archetypes tended to just serve as Xyz Materials for their boss usually.....

...hm. Yes, the restrictions are the main problem. ...you're right.

Spoon would have been pretty cool if it Summoned the others from the Deck.

...I agree completely. Summoning from the deck would help greatly.

The archetype could have been awesome if they actually expanded on it more. They buffed them from the anime versions, but there's nothing really holding them together, and they're a Rank 2 engine.

Rank 2 is probably one of the most undersupported Ranks, period. They tend to be really weak, you have to jump through hoops due to Rank 2 not having much good support, and a bunch of them are non-generic or only support a specific archetype, if at all.

-Gachi Gachi is awesome.

-No.96 is awesome, but needs 3 Materials.

- Cat Shark and Armored Kappa want to be in WATER Decks and are trying too hard.

- Daigusto Phoenix is meh, outside OTK scenarios.

- Ghostrick Socuteboss wants to be in Ghostricks.

- Pure Light is cool, but is really weak and doesn't net you any real advantage.

- No.43 is like No.96, except DARK specific. Thanks...we totally needed that restriction when dealing with a 3 Mat that requires LP gain to do anything.

- No.64 is Beast specific, but very cool for what it does there.

- No.65 is one of the worst Numbers in the game. Terrible Rank, terrible stats, its CNo. form sucks and is also weak, its effect requires two detaches and isn't even good, and it's DARK specific. Thanks for that. In one of the Number tournaments, I got assigned this thing and I begged to be given something else, even suggesting Goldrat, because Rank 1 has more support than Rank 2.

- Shining Elf does nothing.

- Sky Calvary Centurea is actually pretty good.

That's it. That's all the Rank 2s not counting that Burg thing that I'm choosing to not count.
