Any Deeper Meanings to Your Decks?

In order of when I started to build them:

I turned my Yugi Structure Deck into a proper Spellcaster Deck really quickly, and there was no turning back- that's why Dark Magician is still the Deck's Main Deck ace.

I've always loved magic and fantasy worlds- I grew up with Harry Potter, the first manga I read from start to finish was Mahou Sensei Negima, and, well . . . let's just say that "magical" is a major player in my vocabulary.

As the Spell Counter system came about, I practically fell in love- finally Spellcasters were tied to the Spells they cast. It was around that point when I started kicking out everything unnecessary, and about when I started attending tournaments (I won my biggest one in 2005).

As I started getting back into the game and I had Xyz explained to me (I still don't get why we can't just consider Materials to be on the field- they are, if you wanna get technical), I thought my oldest Deck was doomed to die.

Then, a light in the darkness- Pendulums. Monsters that were also Spells.

So, I made yet more rearrangements, adding in 2 copies each of Xiangsheng and Magical Abductor.

A few edits later, my oldest Deck is quite possibly my most solid, and it is my only Deck with all 4 Extra Deck cards- Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, Pendulum.

Nostalgia.

Then, my Dragon deck.

It's actually a legacy Deck- my dad put it together from a Kaiba Structure Deck and bits of a Joey Structure Deck. He wanted to have something to go against me with.

He wanted to understand my love for Yu-Gi-Oh, and got roughly as hooked as I did.

As the years went by, it developed into an engine to get out Dragon Master Knight, with the side capacity of fielding Red-Eyes Darkness.

It was at that point that he went into building a separate Deck, and I kept the Dragons running out of the love of the dragons themselves and respect for my dad.

Eventually, though, I saw how impractical DMK was- 3 Blue-Eyes, plus Black Luster Soldier . . . it ate up Deck space. So, I cut out BLS and kept Ultimate in the Extra Deck.

Eventually, bit by bit, the Deck became more Red-Eyes centric, with REDMD being a boss I could reliably field, which had more dimension to it than DMK's brute force strategy ever did. I mean, I love that card to death, but it just wasn't practical.

Nowadays, the Deck is even more odd- it can rush out DRXD, Clear Wing, Red-Eyes Flare Metal, Scrap Dragon, and/or RDA with efficiency. I even occasionally side Summoned Skull or Beast of Talwar to make the new Fusion- notably, I use the exact same copy of Polymerization that my dad and I pulled out of a booster pack together when I was a little kid, the same Polymerization he used to bring out DMK for years. I have not once in over ten years so much as misplaced that card.

Oh, yeah, also, I practically have a dragon fetish that extends to all aspects of things I do. In fact, a recurring location in a story I'm writing is a café called the Dual Dragon. So there's that.

I am a massive troll.

I edit Wikipedia with misinformation, I mimic voices to start fights, and I've started and ended the relationships of the people around me on whims. I have a tendency to do things just because I can.

This inevitably led me to FLIP Rocks.

Bouncing your cards with Guardian Statue or Golem Sentry, eating your monsters with Medusa Worm, taking your monsters away with Dummy Golem, hurting you for playing the game with Mine Golem . . . it is just too much fun.

Add to that the hilarity of Gigantes, Tackle Crusader, Rock Bombardment . . . I just get too much of a laugh.

The funniest part of all?

Megarock Dragon backed up by triple Lost Guardian under the effects of Shield & Sword- you see, Megarock also gains DEF from its effect.

Add to all this Gantetsu, Number 55, and Daigusto Emeral and you have a party.

So, I once pulled 3 copies of Pilgrim Reaper.

Later that day, I just found a copy of Dark Highlander lying on the ground, in a sleeve but clearly abandoned.

I took this as a sign to make Rank 6 DARK Fiends.

This was not an easy task by any stretch- I had to buy a Resonator from someone who used to run a Jack Deck, then I had to figure out which DARK Fiends would best accomplish the task at hand.

It was surprisingly easy, however, to get myself started once I figured to make a primarily milling-based Deck (with Kiseitai to abuse the Equip Spell clause on Highlander).

It's quite easily my weakest Deck, but it tries. Eventually I'll get the secret down.

I have always run some variety of burn/heal Deck.

Most of the time, it was something I got into just for the burn potential and the excuse to run Fire Princess.

At one point, it was my Spellcasters, with help from Rapid-Fire Magician.

When I heard about Aromas, a Deck that was based entirely around healing oneself, I was intrigued.

As things went on in my experiments with the Deck, however, it was clear that it needed a way to end a Duel that wasn't just getting a LP total so high my opponent ragequits or razing my opponent to the ground with Fire Princess.

I added Ra.

To be honest, I'm not sure about the psychology, but I've never been more entertained.

Definitely was only a matter of time until I posted here.

Trains mean the most to me, and for more reasons than it's just my favorite deck.

I first built this deck back in like 2013, right when the first three cards were announced and put on DN and DevPro. These were just Night Express Knight, Snow Plow Hustle Rustle, and Special Schedule. My first build was crap, and I really only made it to see what I could do with it, and it was surprisingly really fun. Then, a month or two later, Ruffian Railcar gets announced and this is when my deck starts to really change.

Basically put, this deck feels like a good representation of how I've developed as a player over the years. It's change dramatically from its first version with each new card. Sometimes, entire new versions weren't even made because of new cards; one version I fondly refer to as "2.5" was made when I got fed up with how it was playing and decided to make it as good as I could make it. It was dramatically different than the original 2.0 build (post-Ruffian), and is probably a significant turning point of me casting off my filthy casual ways.

So overall, this deck means a lot to me more or less because it's one I know perfectly inside-and-out; I've seen it grow and develop from two years ago and, thanks to a surprise few bones thrown my way from Koomy, been able to see it grow into something really stronk.

Anyways, enough about me stroking my ego.

I have an attachment to Blackwings, they were the first meta deck I ever played, the deck I ran when I used to be on this site 24/7 and they remind me of a simpler time in my time.

On a deeper more emotional meaning, I have a fierce loyalty to this deck. When I was 14 years old, Blackwings came out. I went to vacation in Orlando and bought loads of Crimson Crisis and Raging Battle packs, with them being half price compared to my country. I pulled almost everything to make the deck, minus an Armor Master, and built it up that night. The next day, I learned that the night before, my grandfather drank poison, ending his life. Despite him having mental issues, he still loved me and cared for me, and playing Blackwings always takes me back to that time when my entire family was alive. It brings a level of safety and comfort and despite me not using the same cards as I do in my modern builds, the archetype itself is something I always look fondly upon.

I guess Gemini Turbo. I know, it's weird. My cousin got me into the game, and that was the deck he gave me to start. It was albeit somewhat wierd, but he made it work somehow. I sadly no longer have the deck and have been unable to remake it. I just can't remember what he used. I remember Geminis, Double Summon, Battle Traps, it even ran plague spreader. It worked, but I can't seem to build it again :/ It's so faded from my memory

I only have one actual deck ( I recently just started playing again online because of a friend) but my Dragon-type deck holds a bunch of good memories from since I was in elementary school. I made improvements to it over time, but always kept my Armed Dragons in because I got them from one of my close friends at a time, and when I was in 9th grade I added in my older brothers Horus cards and so it just made it that much more special to me.
