More Digital Bug Cards

Recommended Posts

Alright, gonna lay it down how it is for these casual archetypes:

Aromages: Plants are a fairly well supported type, and there's plenty of cards you can run to make the deck decently functional. Does that mean it's particularly competitive? No, but it means if you wanna play with a couple buds and have the deck work, it'll work and you can probably have a good time. It's not competitive, but it works and it's not that bad.

Graydle: People have made this work in obnoxious ways, and even though it's not a very well supported type, it's a well supported attribute and there are a lot of cards that can work with this deck.

Shiranui: Zombies are one of the most well-supported types generically, and it's by that fact alone, pretty much, that makes this deck both playable and even kinda decent. It can be fun to play and fun to play against, and there's plenty of cards that work with them.

Digital Bugs: Let's take one of the most undersupported types, and slap it with a very, very under-represented attribute within that type. Oh yeah, then let's make it xenophobic so that pretty much all you can summon with them is their own monsters and Giga Brilliant, because that's a good card, right? I, and many others, have looked for cards that even remotely synergize with these things, and I'm very close to writing this deck off as unplayable. It's appalling how dumb this deck is because Konami decides to design this archetype like it's an 11 card archetype at the least and then only gives it 8. There's simply nothing to play with these cards to cover its downsides, and the xenophobia is borderline nonsensical. Heck, if you're so concerned about the benefits the cards give the Xyz monsters when they're used as mats for the summon, why the frick didn't you just make that effect "When this card is used as a Material for the Summon of an Insect-Type Xyz Monster" instead of making it so that you can't use these guys for anything but their own cards?! It's not like this stops you from making other R5 or R7 monsters; the trap negates the effects of the monsters it summons, so it's not like you can't summon Pleiades with these guys (yeah, good going designer.)

So, in summary:

Digizektors are a go! If you use the Digibugs to get the Inzektor engine flowing, you can end with a Giga-brilliant XYZ to push for game pretty damn easily! Now I have to figure out how to make a synchro build off these buggers (pardon the pun :3 )

Well Fire Ant Ascator, Naturia Butterfly and Naturia Stinkbug are Level 3 Insect Tuners, so I guess it could work.

Things that could have changed:

  1. Make all the effects hard OPT, but give the maindeck bugs a clause that says "Once while this card is face-up on the field: You can target 1 monster on the field; Change its battle position.". This makes them more effective on the whole, while not speeding the majority of them up. Just giving you an Insect Xyz only TGU. Alternatively, Little Winguard clause of some sort, but maybe MP2 to make it slower than TGU.
  2. Make their stats not sheet.
  3. As stated, make them gain effects when attached to a LIGHT Insect Xyz (or just Insect Xyz), not when used as Material/only usable for Insect Xyz. (Questionable if #1 is done, unless it's the MP2 version)
  4. make the field grab from grave so it rewards you ffs
  5. Give them a RotA/E-Tele.

And more.
