Silver Chariot the Eidolon Beast

Attribute: LIGHT
Type: Machine/Fusion/Effect
Level: 9
ATK: 2500
DEF: 2100
"Aleister the Invoker" + 1 LIGHT monster
Once per turn, during either player's turn, when a Spell/Trap Card, or monster effect, is activated: You can send the same type of card (Monster, Spell, or Trap) from your hand to the Graveyard; negate the activation, and if you do, banish that card.

This became one of my favorite cards, hands down: first of all, I like Eidolons for their concept and playing style, then I like this card's artwork, type (Machine being my favorite one), great effect in balanced stats, and even its Level9, which is relatively uncommon, making it feel a bit more unique, and can allow for silly Rank9 summons like Enterblathnir and True King V.F.D.

Posting this thread in part because I am wondering if there is anything cool to discuss about it, like out-of-the-box applications and so on. I mean, whether it is good or not shouldn't be up to discussion; clearly it is good as Eidolon's LIGHT omni-Fusion, and the effect is potent despite being a 1-for-1 in a vacuum, since the banish removal avoids grave and on-destruction effects, as well as keeps monsters out of the grave. It doesn't have high stats like Magallanica or Purgatorio (factoring in its effect), but really, it doesn't need to IMO; in fact, that makes it feel more balanced for me, which is yet another thing I like about this card; in a way, the card is strong but without taking it too far, and that's part of why I find it so appealing.

Random trivia: coincidentally, it has the same stats a YGO's iconic Dark Magician.

Oh, also posting this because I started to watch JoJo recently, and Silver Chariot is ma favorite Stand design-wise so far; I have a thing for medieval or warrior-themed machines.

Discuss.

I have the following applications:
-Discard a Trap > It can now negate a Trap (oh shi... we don't run Traps and they only have Counter Traps sir!)

-Discard a Spell > It can now negate a Spell

-Discard a Monster > (and this is gonna be a shocking play) it can NOW negate a Monster's effect.

:v

No but, yeah.... It is a pretty straight-forward card: You aim to read what you think would have benefited your opponent the most to the best of your ability and negate it. Pretty reactive, and even when it isn't hard OPT, it is technically still costing a discard. It is more of the "break mah board broh" kind of effect, reactive. I guess we could sort through the card pool of LIGHT and see what the best cards to combo with it are.... Although Eilodons banish the materials so it cuts down a lot of current options like Tasuke Knight, Performage Trick Clown, etc. Hmm..

On paper, it doesn't need more ATK because it should once in a while prevent your opponent from making a monster with equal or higher stats xD

For most intents and purposes it is an improved version of Ultimate Providence, and I think the game would have been a more fun place if we had gotten Ultimate Providence instead of Solemn Judgment back in the day so, it is a pretty cool effect.

But yes, Silver Chariot is pretty cool. You should have seen it against The Devil.

I already have, it was a piece of cake for Chariot. It's Polnareff who gets in the way of its greatness :v

And I have found Trickclown to be a nice tech when using it as fusion material from the hand.

If you like the art so much, why did you change it?

For the JoJo reference, clearly. Also I like both, but I couldn't mash both in the same picture, so I had to choose. Huh, it just occurred to me that I could have been silly by putting Chariot's face over Merkabah's, but meh, I don't have the practice to make such image edits, at least in a short time.

So you already watched all of Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency, and then some Stardust Crusaders?

It has been like, what? 2 days? Since you told me you were gonna watch the full package. Did you seriously go over at least 32 episodes in that amount of time?

Uuuh, yeah

My next episode to watch is 32 of Stardust Crusaders xD

tbh should've used this Merkabah instead

I honestly have mixed feelings on this thing. The effect seems nice on paper, but depending on your hand, you might not even want to negate that card because it would cost you something important. I also wish the body was a bit...I dunno, bigger? 2500 is a very average ATK value, but that and the effect cost are probably because so many decks are running LIGHTs nowadays anyways that it would be a bit too good. 'Cause, y'know, you could just banish whatever LIGHT they have in their Graveyard to prevent them from ever using it for BLS, etc.

9 is also a very weird level for it to have. 'Cause there aren't very many good Rank 9s outside of Enterblathnir (or whatever the fuh its name is).

tl;dr Decent card, could've been quite a bit better.

Same like the other negation, dealing a single of this is fine, but dealing with multiple Merkabah is troublesome (same goes like multiple Cydra Infiny and Treatoad), of course given you have the discard-source to negate stuff. I said multiple of this because once i duel'd against opp who use BEWD Eidolon and summon 2 Merkabah in a single turn, cant do anything thx to them. I also saw someone tech Eidolon in Cydra deck for Merkabah + Cydra Infiny 1 turn.

As you guys already know, basically 1 card for 1 card, discard stuff from your hand (-1) to negate opp stuff and banish it (-1), but negating opp key combo/card/play benefit you more. Also free monster negation as the Spell recycles itself and add Aleister back, means 1 monster as a discard fodder.

But what makes it different than the other negation? Merkabah banish the stuff you negate, so floating things like Kozmotown/ship wont work, that's a plus there, with the recent cards has floating eff/has effect when destroyed.

Tho it may be simple and balanced, the card is good the way it is. Also agree love the art.

Although if you negate Kozmotown's activation and destroy it, it won't be destroyed in the Field Zone anyway.
