The Nyx Avatar
Field SpellDuring either player's turn, if a monster on your side of the field would be destroyed (either by battle or by card effect): You can pay 800 Life Points; it is not destroyed. If you do, its effects are negated and it cannot attack. These changes last until your next End Phase. You can only activate this effect of "Cold Forest" once per turn. If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 monster on the field; its effects are negated and it cannot attack.
Moya13
Very interesting card! I like main effects of this card! It doesn't need to be "Once per turn" since paying LP is already taken permanently. Though I think this card's effects based on paying LP to protect monsters should be applied to both players, since it's a Field Spell, not Continuous. What do you think? Though I think this card's effects based on paying LP to protect monsters should be applied to both players, since it's a Field Spell, not Continuous. What do you think? Nyx has it there as a HARD once-per-turn clause, meaning that you can only use it once per turn, even if it gets blown up and you play another copy. So yeah, he needs that clause; otherwise the controller can just pay LP to protect all their monsters (assuming they can afford to do so repeatedly). ====But otherwise, I suppose the card is fine for what it does; save one of your monsters from getting killed, and then use it to make an Extra Deck 'mon or something (which you probably will). Effect/attack negation suck, yes, but using to "ladder" into another monster won't really bother you. Last effect is fine; opponent is careless enough to pop this; they get Fiendish Chain'd. You can probably make it a soft OPT, considering how common stuff like Drancia is becoming (or just remove the limiter, but make the LP slightly higher). You would need the hard OPT on the Fiendish effect though.
Sleepy
Sounds about right that the protection lasts until your End Phase rather than until the end of whoever's turn it is as a drawback. It's just a small safety net considering it won't be catching anybody off guard as a Field Spell and it won't be making combos with Metalfoes or the like.Heck it doesn't even combo with old school beaters like Hyper Hammerhead because it negates the effects of the monster. It's an alright card overall though I have trouble finding a place where I'd like to use it on. If I were to give it a suggestion, the last effect could probably afford to have its condition to trigger changed so that laddering through Field Spells kicks it in. Demise of the Land and the likes would like it better that way, otherwise you'll find yourself using your own Twin Twister or an Ancient Fairy Dragon just to use it. "sent from the field to the Graveyard" would probably make the trick IMO.
