Grunt Issun
I just think its funny that people consider Dark magician a rare card, the only thing good about it is the massive support it gets, if you thing about it, theres probably many lvl 5 and 6 monsters that have effects and are more powerful, its just weird that they would make it seem so rare, discuss
Thomas★Zero
well Dark Magicain way the signature card from the orginal series same with neos which would be good enough reasons to make into rare cards.

Mehmani
Dark Magician not only has an absolute fuckload of support, it was also one of the first cards to be released. Back then 2-tribute high ATK vanillas were staples.

.Gideon.
When the game first started, 90% of the monsters were Vanillas with 1500- ATK, VERY few monster removals (Fissure, trap hole, Dark hole, Raig, man-eater bug) .. So Dark Magician was good back then, :)

I said, Dark magician was GOOD, not the best .. -_- as for your sarcasm, If in the past you activate a broken spell and summon a vanilla which may survive for many turns, then now you activate a spell/trap/monster's eff , summon a bunch of monsters and attack for game. < that's more fun eh ? Dr. Cakey
3x Dark Hole3x Raigeki3x Fissure3x Nobleman of Crossout3x Mirror Force Sounds fun. Even Neos is probably better than this. At least he has Hero Mask and Wrath of Neos. Though, Skilled Dark is pretty handy. Hard to say.
Grunt Issun
Dark Magician was rare? Then how come I could find 6 on my playroom floor O.o? well I guess I should have made it more clear, this was suppost to be in the anime section, and I should have said that the anime refers to it as rare

But it's the "rare" that comes from being the shiniest card in a Starter Deck, rather than any actual rarity.
OmegaWave
Dark Magician is the face of Yugioh. Plain and simple. More than enough with Konami-Logic to make it rare. Also, Duelist Pack Yugi is currently the only way to get one unless you're an alpha geek who still has an unopened Starter Deck Yugi or Yugi Evolution. Konami-Logic: Mascot = Money = Tease = DO WANT. If it did, it would be the Millenium Puzzle, based on what character/object has ACTUALLY been put on almost everything. Everyone else handled the Dark Magician = "Rare" thing nicely already. @Dr. Cakey: Some of those were Limited in Japan before the game went international. When it did, the banlist was immediately made as the exact same - those have not been @3 at any point.
Master Marik
It was "the ultimate wizard in terms of attack and defense" so its rarity made perfect sense.
evilfusion
Dark Magician isn't very good anymore, still a touch usable, but Blue-Eyes has always overshadowed it. If they'd just release Arkana's Dark Magician in English, though...

GenzoTheHarpist
This was NEVER a good card. Summoned Skull and Blue Eyes came in starter decks, so even from the beginning if you cared about winning there was always better alternatives that would make this suck. Hell at the time I would say the gate guardian pieces were a lot better than this.

~ P O L A R I S ~
I suppose you're new to the game then? A Special Summon is a type of Summon that is performed through the effect of a card. Special Summons do not use up your 1 Normal Summon or Set for the turn, and can be conducted as many times as possible in a turn. If generally referred to, a monster is Special Summoned in face-up ATK or face-up DEF position, unless indicated by the card. Special Summons can be performed during either player's turn. Special Summoning requires no Tributes unless indicated by the card. "Premature Burial", "Call of the Haunted", "Monster Reborn", "Soul Resurrection", and "Autonomous Action Unit" can all Special Summon monsters from the Graveyard. Thus, you can activate each card (provided you have enough Life Points) and resurrect five monsters, as well as conduct a Tribute Summon or Tribute Set in the same turn. Fusion Summons, Ritual Summons and Synchro Summons are all considered Special Summons.
