The fate of Vanillas in 2010...

[s]i remember the days when cards were used solely for ATK, DEF, Level, Attribute and Type. Those were the days.[/s]
And then we had Chaos Emperor Dragon and didn't give a s*** anymore.

So now with the take-over of effect monsters, the creation of geminis, and the debut of Synchros, cards that can only attack and defend are now things of the past.

Will there ever be any reason to run vanilla monsters with their flavor text (huhuhuh) anymore?

Or are they history? Yellow framed cards that are only used as a joke card, lackospace card or n00b ladder card.

Vanillas were dead long, long before Chaos Emperor Dragon came out. =\

It was a reference to a past discussion in 2009 about the same thing (vanillas), about how people would evolve and choose CED over BEWD, because they had the same stats but Chaos Emperor Dragon was obviously better because of the effect.

I think the reference was too old to use now that I think about it.

I'm stupid.

With the introduction of Synchros, Vanillas actually have a bit more purpose if in solely Synchro Decks(Especially Walls)

But otherwise, meh.

Normal Buster Decks no longer can really be competitive.

PErhaps if they went to make Synchro + Normal Fusions, they might make a comeback (I can already picture a Stardust + Dark Magician fusion coming from that)
