My post count.

Meh, since I feel everyone would just post "lol, terrible next" and think they were super duper awesome, let's discuss on what you guys think about dice and coin flip related effects. Beneficial to the game, or... not? Furthermore, would you allow a more broken and more powerful effect if there was a smaller chance of it happening?

The best/and most broken dice roll card made into a real card.

Cup of Ace, yo.
Heads = Pot of Greed
Teails = Gift of Greed

.......
In fact, some of Sartorious(w/e) cards are based on existing B& cards, except with the same gimmick that Cup of Ace has.

Some of the gamble effects are okay, but with such a luck-based game as it is, putting outcomes on luck is rarely ever worthwhile, because gamble effects are inconsistent. Maximum Six at minimum is a 2100 six star, and a 3100 at best. It's not worth leaving so much to chance, when a simpler, guaranteed beatstick is better.

Other effects, such as Cup of Ace would be good if you got a positive outcome regardless. Like with Appropriate active, you'll draw no matter what. Or Paths of Destiny with Bad Reaction, to deal 2000 regardless of the outcome. Dice Rolls seem geared towards making them decent no matter the result, but to what extent varies. Morphtronic Celfon is a dice roll done decently. Sixth Sense is a dice roll done too well. Graceful/Skull Dice is dice rolls that are just silly, since Rush Recklessly is better than Graceful, since you'll almost never use Graceful for a swarm.

Coin flips are annoying. Fairy Box is a coin flip card that is just plain evil, the Arcana Force are coin flips for underwhelming effects or a sucky effect. Time Wizard is a good coin flip card, but again, more guaranteed effects are better.

Joey used a whole deck based on gambling. If he had even remotely normal luck, he'd have been screwed dozens of times. The fact the duel he used Maximum Six in, he got some incredibly absurd luck, but still lost was very satisfying.

I think tampering with the results of coins and dice is cheating, the same way if you fixed die rolls in other games.

The only issues for gambling is that:

1) You wont always get the desired effect.
2) Losing your flips/rolls means negative effects for you, or bonuses for the opponent.

If on a losing end you'd just end up with a weaker yet positive effect, then it wouldn't be so horrible like "If you control a "Gambler" monster other than this card, you can remove this card from play and roll a six-sided die. If you roll a 1 or 2, Draw 1 card. If you roll a 3 or 4, Draw 2 cards then discard 1 card. If you roll a 5 or 6, Draw 3 cards then discard 2 cards."

Yes, making up a random "Gambler" archetype for the example.

In any case, if losing an effect didn't result in a loss for you or a gain for your opponent, but rather a lower roll gave you a weaker effect and a better roll gave you a improved effect, then it probably wouldn't be so bad i would think.

Konami doesn't explicitly say it isn't. :mellow:

Personally I think it's cheating, but I'm just trying to find out if I could get away with it at a Regional without getting DQed.

...why would they HAVE to? Fixing a game of chance is cheating. Using loaded dice in Yahtzee, Monopoly, Chutes and Ladders, etc is cheating. Why would the rules specifically have to say "don't use fixed dice"? This is like the warning labels with electronics and appliances that say disturbingly obvious things, yet have to be written because people are that stupid.

Entering a game of chance is implied to remain a game of chance. While often rigged to the house's favor in casinos and the like, if you find a way to cheat or legitimately bypass the "luck" factor (card counting) you get banned. It's just bad for business. Cards in Yu-gi-oh that have a luck factor like coin tosses and random selections or dice rolls are supposed to remain random and luck-factored. They aren't used because they're inconsistent. Make them consistent and you overrule the whole point of the card, which is against the spirit of the game, and is considered cheating if done knowingly and deliberately.

Stacking your deck is cheating because you take out the luck of the draw aspect. Searching ilegal targets is cheating because you're not following the rules. These don't have to be spelled out in the rules. It's the nature of the game that makes it cheating. Can you imagine how stupid it would look in the rulebooks if they said:

"When using effects that require coin flips, the coin must be an unaltered, two-sided coin." or "When using effects that require dice, you must use an unaltered dice with equal probability for all outcomes"

Dice and coins arent SUPPOSED to be fixed. That's why they're used.

The game is lucksacky enough without devoting every play to a gamble.

"Dicefernity Launcher: Continuous Spell. When you activate this card, flip a coin. If heads, you can discard one 'Infernity' monster from your hand. If tails, you cannot Special Summon for the rest of this turn. If you have 0 cards in your hand, send this card to the Graveyard and roll a six-sided die once. Special Summon as many 'Infernity' monsters from your graveyard as you can, up to the result on the die."

Lulzy Victory Roll !
Roll a six-sided die. If the result is 1, you win the Duel. If the result is 2,3,4, or 5, you loose the Duel. If the result is 6, you loose the Match.

Anyways...
I think its already been said, but if both effects of a coin effect were positive at different levels, those would be used more. Gambling Cards with a negative effect should only have a negative effect if they have an incredibly good effect.
Not sure what to think of the card "Gamble" that lets you either draw up to 5 cards, or skip your own turn.
Most Arcana Force monsters overall count as having either a negative effect, or a sucky effect, which is about the same as 2 negative effects.

Would that be Gatling Dragon or the newest one, the 1700 that needs 2 heads or whatever.
The Level 4 one...is...really horrible

Gatling is decent but almost unplayable...(Or just not worth it I can't remember)

Also Lulz
