But would anything by Ulver after Nattens madrigal belong here? Probably not, but I had to ask.

It's hardly a problem. We're pretty loose with that stuff and at least one person here digs post-bm Ulver.

Got a War All the Time hoodie at the Thursday show, pretty sweet

I dig the new tracks, I've seen a lot of people express disappointment but I'm excited for the album.

Really? Ive only seen a little bit of disappointment for the newest one. Shame because the newest tracks are some of the best fuckin sheet that ATDI have put out.

New Stolas album is different but I love it

Just bought an RG320 from some homie for $60, so I restrung it and set up a preset on Amplitube to try and milk something decent out of it. The thing about Amplitube is that while the cab impulses are pretty solid, the head emulators are pretty meh. Took some work, but I'm just sending it into a 5150 model through an Orange 4x12 with K-100s and a tube screamer in front. Nothing fancy.

The guitar is 100% STOCK. Stock V7/8 pups, and pretty shoddy factory wiring too, but I paid $60, so w/e.

Threw down some riffs, and took the time out to familiarize myself with Superior Drummer. Love it. A lot.

All of the riffs are in drop C, and the bass is my Mexifender J bass into an SVT model and the stock Amplitube overdrive. Again - nothing fancy.

Pretty good grind jam, I had fun ad-libbing random vox over it lol. Might have to check out that Superior Drummer program, sounds legit.

Also, this is perfection.

Hey guys, I'm pretty new here and stuff. Cool to see that there is a hardcore thread in a yugioh forum.

Mostly listen to downtempo and pop most of the time but I do listen to some hardcore and metal from time to time. They are pretty standard stuff though.

I dig Downtempo stuff a fair amount, not as much as I used to though, most people here like more than just Metal or Hardcore. But welcome here. ETID and United Nations are good stuff.

Fuckin amazing albums

I started to listen to ETID after finding out that Brandon Urie was featured in one of their song and stayed for more. They remind me of a simpler Dillinger Escape Plan but less jazzy(?) I guess. Don't really know what mathcore is but after reading up on it, mathcore is basically the correct term of genre for the bands I called progressive metalcore.

So @Noise, if you have any suggestion on other cool mathcore band, I'll check them out.

And I think the new United Nation's song features the vocalist of Glassjaw. Could be wrong though.

Best ETID album is The Big Dirty. I wouldnt go too far on the TDEP comparison since ETID are Southern influenced and I never really saw them as a Mathcore band.

Should give that new United Nations a listen since I love Glassjaw

My name aint Coral or god and savoir syntaxoil but I can still give some of my favorite Mathcore albums.

Woah. Thanks for the recommendations guys. Listened to all of them.

@syntaxoil, that was a lot of tracks. Tbh though, I only like the song from Me and Him Call It Us. The rest felt very deathcore-ish and doesn't have that much of variety to them.

@Mae, yeah, southern-inspired would be the right word. Though I don't think "The Big Dirty" is their best album. I already know The Chariot and Norma Jean. But I thought they were straight up metalcore? Beecher is good. Enjoying them so far. A bit similar to Converge though. Really not liking Architects. Very repetitive so far.

The Chariot are definitely Mathcore. Norma Jean are pure Metalcore save for O God the Aftermath which has a huge Botch influence and I honestly like it more than Botch. Glad that you liked Beecher, totally underrated band though I dont find them all that similar to Converge. I dont really find Architects to be repetitive except for their two newest albums.

I've heard people say that Daryl Palumbo is the new United Nations frontman (still unconfirmed), but Geoff Rickly has for sure left the project which makes me pretty sad. I only just now realized they released a new song this past January and it's pretty dope, even though I find the lyrics to be a bit cringey, definitely not something Rickly would write.

And yea Mathcore is basically just metalcore with an emphasis on odd time signatures and frequent time/tempo changes. A few of my favorites are Seizures, Coalesce, Botch, Knut (combined with sludge metal), The Ocean (only the album Aeolian, all the rest of their stuff is progressive/post-metal). I'm super keen on the bands that Moog listed as well. I'd also count Converge, particularly up until You Fail Me. They still make a lot of use of progressive song structures and odd time signatures but they've made a notable shift towards a more crust-punk style of metalcore on their last couple of albums.

Some other great metalcore albums that aren't necessarily mathcore but had a great impact on the genre would be

Rorschach - Protestant

Deadguy - Fixation on a Coworker

Kiss It Goodbye - She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not

Starkweather - Crossbearer
