ZOMG WTF????????????????????

I thought he hated HEROs. This is like a gift from the gods of yugioh?????????? Ummm sure... ok Kevin... you heard the man HERO duelists - go forth and cheat like a........

but with the blessing of Mr. Sunlight Unicorn..... I mean Tewart. I get those 2 mixed up sometimes.
KevinTewart wrote:Take a close look at the revised text on Mirror Gate:
When an opponent's monster declares an attack targeting a face-up "Elemental HERO" monster you control: Switch control of the opponent's attacking monster with the targeted monster you control, then calculate damage. Control of both monsters switches back during the End Phase.

Remember that, under the new card text, the word "BOTH" is extremely important. It means that, when 2 cards are involved, you must perform the action to BOTH cards, or else nothing happens.

Which means the general flow of Mirror Gate will work like this:
1. Your Elemental HERO gets attacked by your opponent's (presumably stronger) monster.
2. You activate this card and switch control, taking your opponent's monster.
3. The non-HERO monster, which you control, presumably obliterates the HERO which was now controlled by your opponent.
4. Since it is impossible to switch control of BOTH cards in the End Phase (since the HERO was obliterated), you keep control of the monster formerly known as your opponent's monster.

Permanently.
Guys, Mirror Gate from episode 2 in GX. It worked the same as Kevin's logic.

[s]oh yeah...Chazz didn't get Flame Wingman back at the end phase....its obvious Kevin watched that episode before they printed the LC02 version of Mirror Gate[/s]
Chthonian Blast rendered my post invalid

Actually, in that episode, Chazz destroyed the swapped Wingman with Chthonian Blast (a Spell card in the anime) during Main Phase 2.

I am pretty sure that it didn't work like that in the anime (at least after episode 2) but that's not the point.

You don't go around posting unconfirmed and controversial new rulings on Pojo and Facebook of all places if you have an important position in the company and know that players will listen to everything you say. There won't be a problem if he is actually right (for a change) but if he is wrong it will be the tour guide fiasco all over again.

.....He might just be trolling, or wanting to sell his Mirror Gates for like 10 times there price.

Obviously, Mirror Gate doesn't work that way. The original wording was perfectly clear. Tewart is putting too much importance on a word in the text, but completely missing the point of what the text is actually conveying.

"Both" is an important word, but only when determining a card's resolution. With Mirror Gate (which doesn't target, I might add), Both is referring to "the monsters affected by this card", not that both have to be traded back in order for any of them to trade back.
