Heavy Storm [There's a gap in logic here]

It's amazing that, even though this card is @1, EVERY SINGLE DUEL I go to nowadays, everyone opens up with Heavy Storm, blowing away my S/T.

I hate this card because, for one, playing MSTs/Dust Tornadoes actually takes a hint of skill, because you can either mess the opponent up real good, or you miss the shot. It takes more skill to use MSTs, rather than just HURRDURR BLOW AWAY YOUR SPELL CARDS GOOD LUCK GETTING BACK THAT SOLEMN JUDGMENT!

MST/Dust Tornado is not more skillful. Just more balanced.
With Heavy Storm, the skill lays on your judgment for how many S/T you can safely put in play, and when to take risks.
With MST/Dust Tornado, the skill lays on timing half of the time (in response to the effect of Dragon Ravine, to Future Fusion, to Call of the Haunted, etc), and on trying to read what your opponent sets.
^for different purposes, it's a different "skill".
Without Storm, the game was all about setting a bunch of cards without fear, unless your opponent guessed with very good luck what your face-down key card was when using MST. Though that turned MST into "random pick" at times.
With Heavy, the mass setting is only usually done when you have the means to protect those cards. At least, up until the point Heavy is used.
You want to lessen the impact as much as possible, so a player that randomly sets 3+ S/T without protection and gets heavy stormed first turn pretty much deserves to get it for his/her lack of though in that action.

I'm not a fan of Heavy Storm, and I was of the people that were in favor of it being banned, but I have to admit, it's necessary, at least for now.

Let's be serious...am I the only one who thinks it's f*cking retarded to compare Hole and Storm? Seriously?
Storm itself doesn't break games. It allows other s*** to break games in a secure way. "Storm discourages players from setting massive backrows?" Imma real happy and imma let you finish, but I've seen plenty of duels where people +0 with Storm, getting rid of their own Warning or Bottomless or whatever they run in the proces.
I won't give a f*ck if they ban Storm again. The era where people teched cool anti-backline s*** like Catastrophe or Dust Tornado was awesome.

Heavy Storm does an important job, but it's a little too good for its job and serves the unintended purpose of promoting OTKs. How about this:

Discard 1 Spell or Trap card; Destroy all Spells and Traps on the field. You cannot Special Summon monsters or attack directly until your next turn.

If there was a replacement for Heavy Storm like that, it would probably be just fine, maybe a little underpowered.

So you're telling me I'm out 1 S/T, plus whatever S/T I already had set and on top of that I can't SS or Attack Directly? This would be an awful card.

OT: I think this is good for the game. It stops your opponent from just ripping through you in one turn and gives you a fighting chance. Imagine getting Solemn'd 3 times in one turn and being unable to do anything but end your turn and watch your opponent rip through your nonexistent front-row.

People aren't dumb enough to do that.

It happened to me last night on DN. Summoned Mizuho, tried to SS Shinai got Warning'd. Tried to SS Grandmaster got Warning'd. Activated ROTA and got Judgemented. In short he paid 6000 LP to stop me from swarming only to Ragequit when I eventually SS summoned Shi'en.

1. That was dumb.

2. GM can dodge Solemn because you can return it to the hand.

3. It's DN. What did you expect?
