Aggro's Set Card of the Day: LOB: Polymerization

Recommended Posts

This card's failure is the reason why the game entered into a pit of festering viscera today. I know, that is a nasty and sensory thought, but look at this card? Absolutely no one wanted to use Fusions because their concept sucked so hard, because of this one card making all of your effort not worth it! Because the concept was generally rejected by the playerbase, Konami started to experiment with new cards to fill the Extra Deck. Konami then created Synchros. To make sure that the concept would be accepted, they made a bunch of game-breaking generic launch cards that include, but are not limited to, Stardust Dragon, Goyo Guardian, Black Rose Dragon, Brionac, DSF, and so on. For a while, many people loved the concept. Seeing as how fast Konami was selling the packs, they released abusive Tuners to fuel people's greed for Synchroing. Now we get to the fun part of the story: People have started to complain very hard about how easy Synchros are to summon and how damaging these said monsters are to the game. They realized that less people were buying Yu-Gi-Oh! Products. Because of this, Konami made every attempt to hurt the Synchro concept so that people would go back to buying packs for them. Konami then realized that because they are killing Synchros, people wouldn't use the Extra Deck as much anymore. This was when Xyz were created. Konami modeled the Xyz concept after how people complained about the failure of Fusion Summoning and about how people complained how broken Synchro Summoning was. Because of this, Konami made Xyz in a reactionary form so that it would require 2+ monsters of the same Level. Konami added in many strange things to Xyz, but the most bizarre was the fact that Xyz had no Level. They had a Rank instead. This was maybe to prevent the Synchro abuse that players feared. Regardless, Xyz soon became broken quickly when Konami started giving higher-level monsters high swarm capability in order to make them playable. Soon, the game has reached the worst point in its life: Konami stripped away Synchros from the metagame, which is what the players wanted. However, they left what the players didn't want: The top 3 metagame decks are highly distressing, all focusing on the Xyz concept. One of these titans can stop most of the opponent's plays while keeping a hard grip on the control, thanks to a certain Rabbit everyone knows. Then, two more titans have spawned after its wake: One Titan is capable of razing entire villages while the other Titan destroyed all forms on income on the innocent towns. With their wake, the game had seen darkness descend upon its land, and it will not go away for the time it has left.

tl;dr

If Polymerization sucks, then Konami tried to revive Fusion as much as possible

If Konami tried to revive Fusion as much as possible, then Konami failed at reviving Fusion

If Konami failed at reviving Fusion, then they wanted to make a new method of "Fusing" without the failures of Fusion

If Konami succeeded at making Synchro Summoning big, then they would want to cash onto it as much as possible

If Konami wanted to cash onto it as much as possible, then they make decisions that break the game.

If Konami made decisions that broke the game, then people slowly stop buying sets from them.

If people stop buying sets from them, then Konami re-thinks their methods

If Konami rethinks their methods, then they come across a new method with a compromise

If Konami came across this method, then they make the players happy

If players are happy, then they start buying cards again

If players start buying cards again, then Konami tries to cash onto the player's desires

If Konami tries cashing onto the player's desires, then Konami makes decisions that break the game

If Konami makes decisions that break the game, then we get a terribad format.

Therefore, Polymerization being bad led to this terribad format.

Long list of logic that explains why the game sucks now.

[s]Except you are wrong...[/s]

I still try to use at least 1 of this card in my decks that use Fusion Monsters... I just think it feels like the right thing.

In Photon Decks, because of Twin Photon Lizard, its effect becomes "Special Summon up to 2 Photon monsters from your hand.", which is not a big card loss (only a -1, while a regular Fusion would be a -2).

I believe only this archetype is able to use this card efficiently.
