Structure Deck 24 - Assault of the Flaming King

Recommended Posts

It says that it goes with the cards from Cosmo Blazar. Given that Return of the Duelist was Earth centric, and Abyss Rising was Water centric, this means we're getting some other decent fire support, which is good, i suppose.

What's the odds that the boss monster is horrendously broken OR completely unusable?

I'll give you 1:6

And I'm not taking any bets on it having 200 DEF.

Hopefully Konami can give it something more expansive than that.

Guys, it's all gonna be about the monsters from the next pack. Which may in fact also work with the Flaming Star cards, but it's definitely not going to be based around the 200 DEF sh*t.

It'll work with the pack just like Atlanteans are with Mermails.

Give us the Anime FIRE attribute Rota, Bonfire and then all is well in the world.
It's possible because they gave us an anime card as one of the new cards in a previous structure: Celri. In all seriousness I would like that.

Why does everyone hate Rekindling?
Lavals are awesome and top tier because of it! ^_^
That's the only reason.

If anyone's seen me in the RC section, you all know that FIRE monsters are one of my favorite subjects in the world and I've even made my infamous "Flame Barrier"s over and over.

I will be p***ed as hell if lolnami f***s up with the new FIRE format they seem to be promising for us. 200 DEF....yeah no. Something new please.

HAHAHAHAH- oh you were serious?

No, Rekindling is hated by some people for being horrible card design, even before it was Top Tier. It is a broken ass card that was "okay" because its deck sucked. Except, that is NEVER okay. It will just sit and wait to be the most broken thing in a format; That's the nature of cards like Rekindling.

A deck that requires a broken ass card to live deserves to die. A card that overcentralizes a whole attribute in the minds of players is also something that should die. Hopefully this changes things.

THIS! THIS! I REPEAT! THIS is why I don't like the "competitive" FIRE Decks that we have. We need something new, something with more flavor....and not outrageously broken even in design <__<

I wonder if they'll go the burn route.... "When this card is summoned, inflict 1000 damage to your opponent" Or something like that? Dunno.
If they do, that's fine. If they make an archtype that deals double burn while having an aggro style of play, then I'll know who they stole the idea from.

But if they do make a "burn" archtype, they're probably gonna have to do some clear cut thinking on it since burn is tricky to play with and you can wind up making cards OPed without realizing (experienced because I kept retraining my Flame Barriers till I got them just right).

What they NEED to figure out how to do is make a competitive burn deck played entirely whilst allowing your Opponent to counter. You know, like any other deck.

A burn deck that requires player interaction.

Now there's something they should figure out.

Make it Sphinx burn. Best idea.

could see some old classics being used in this deck such as...
*UFO turtle as a common Fire Searcher.
*Solar Flare Dragon which creates a semi attack lock if you get 2 of them out while dealing 1000 points of damage each turn let alone 500 from 1.
*Royal Firestorm Guards which are a POA for pyro types with legs where if the deck is considered a large collection of pyro types it could work.

Only thing to consider though is that all of the first 3 were beast warriors so not 100% what they would put in this structer for fire reprints.

They could always go the Grenosaurus route and make having to destroy monsters by battle, or like discarding a FIRE monster to destroy a monster and inflict 800 damage to the opponent. That last one is a bad example, but you get what I mean.

I'm personally hoping it'll give FIREs more than just the 200 DEF thing.

I'm going to remain skeptical.

But aren't all of the major decks in the upcoming format decks that revolve around 1-2 specific cards?
Inzektors: Hornet and Dragonfly
Dino Rabbits: Rescue Rabbit
Dark Worlds: Grapha and Snoww
Madolches: Magiliene and Tiaramisu
Gishki: Gustkraken
Chaos Dragons: REDRUM
Give me a top-tier deck that doesn't follow this trend.

And that implies it's good design? The metagame's a giant mess of badly designed stuff.
