Um, no it isn't. Its a deck that is winning sure, but it is far from the best deck in the format.
It's a deck that is winning, and winning more than every other deck. It has one of the best matchups all-round. Ergo, it is arguably the best deck in the format, even if only by a small margin. That is what the definition of the best deck is, after all.

G/W humans will love this.
It's essentially Sublime Archangel, but without evasion and a more heavy mana cost though. The main advantage of it, I guess, would be that you can use Cavern of Souls with it, but it's still iffy.

I don't know where your looking but looking over MTGO results it doesn't do any better than the other big decks in the format. In fact I'd argue some of the others do better based only on results.

Variations of Red and BR Aggro dominated SCG Columbus last week. They also pushed pretty much all of the control decks out of topping. And pretty much all of them won without running even a full set of Hellkites.

Your definition of dominated varies greatly from mine. Top 16 only 2 Br and 2 RDW.

Anyway, this isn't a topic for this thread. If you wish to continue make a thread for standard and the possible meta game changes come Gatecrash.

It is very much a flavored Simic card, but not having Green in it keeps it from being a Simic card. Even if its a Blue card making a Green guy.

Its funny, the rares have the wow factor, but I've always enjoyed seeing the commons. Guess that because of how important they are for limited.

By that logic, I should be able to argue Gridlock merits one too. In retrospect, the mechanics aren't Simic-y enough. (There was a list of five criteria I found somewhere on MaRo's Tumblr to determine which cards got watermarks, but I can't remember how far back it was and I don't want to dig.)

Also, this.

Why they would revisit Zendikar so quickly is beyond me.
Well since you didn't pay attention to the story line (which is quite hilarious actually), it's the same reason they went back to Ravnica. Gideon went to Ravnica to find support for the war against the Eldrazi back on Zendikar, and that's why they went back to Ravnica because that's where the story takes them, so they'll most likely do Zendikar again because that's the point of this little adventure of Gideon's.

It is not about the story, visiting a planes we have already been to. It took 7 years to go to Mirrodin and Ravnica. Even Maro stated that we should wait a good amount of time before revisiting a planes anyways.

Front Line Medic + Angelic Skirmisher and other attacking creature seems pretty trollsy with Indestructible and Vigilance.
That sounds really awkward. It's good enough on its own, rather than weird combos.

This is basically a sideboard auto-include in all GW aggro decks against control. It Mana Leaks a Sphinx's Revelation. That's amazing.

Yes, and I suppose Gideon and Jace being in this one is just a coincidence right?

Jace's home base is Ravnica and Gideon was said to be heading to it to find help to fight the Eldrazi. If we were to ever go back to the plane it was a sure thing both of them would be there. We won't be back on Zendikar for a while.

We already had hints that we would revisit Mirrodin, for example. The signs of Phyrexia were there. Ravnica had plans to be revisited pretty much as soon as it was released, but it took this long.

Gideon and Jace is simply a coincidence. Jace was never fully involved in the Zendikar plotline. He was just a catalyst and then he kinda left. Gideon and Nissa are the ones who are actively fighting the Eldrazi. The presence of Gideon is probably a sign of not returning to Zendikar. It would be very strange indeed to have two plotline Gideons in two adjoining blocks.

Besides, we'd have to see Nissa first before we go back.
The five criteria were actually six, and they were for Phyrexian watermarks.
1. The card's rules text mentions poison.
2. The card's rules text mentions proliferate.
3. The card's rules text mentions -1/-1 counters.
4. The card was a creature with a "put into a graveyard from the battlefield" effect.
5. The card involved sacrificing creatures.
6. The card used life as a payment.
The general criteria for Ravnican guild watermarks is:

It features the guild mechanic.

It is multicoloured: gold, or hybrid.

It has off-colour ability activations.
You very, very rarely get flavour justifications, both to generally free up the flavour and so watermarks have a distinctive purpose to them (which is to show direct mechanical similarities). The only exception to this rule in history for any watermark was Geth, Lord of the Vault, simply for storyline purposes. In Ravnica, you have cards like Death's Presence which look affiliated with a guild. They do represent other things too. Avenging Arrow has Selesnya flavour, but it was noted that it could represent an Azorius or Boros archer, in other cases etc.

Also, I've noticed Syndic of Tithes has a cute thrull at the side of the figure <3

There's a different list, but thanks anyways. :\
I found two separate instances of MaRo explaining Ravnican guildmarks.
doopboopdoop asked: Why was bob (Dark Confidant) not given an Orzov Watermark? I mean his effect seems very in philosophy for that guild.

You get a watermark for one of three reasons:
1) You’re a gold card.
2) You’re a card that is maximized by having two colors. For example, you’re a card of one color with an activated ability of a second.
3) You have a guild keyword.
If you don’t fulfill any of those requirements, you don’t get a guild keyword. Yes, there are numerous cards that flavorfully belong to a guild but that’s the bar you have to pass to get your watermark.
EDIT: Yes, I meant a guild watermark.

chairmclee asked: What's the rational behind certain cards in RTR not having guild watermarks even when they're clearly themed toward one guild (e.g.. Chorus of Might or Phantom General)? I understand the system (only multi-colored or cards with guild mehanic), but why not mark other appropriate cards for flavor reasons?

Guild watermarks only appear if one of the following is true:

a ) It’s a gold card of both the guild’s colors.

b ) It’s a monocolor card that either has a mana symbol of another color on it or references another color or basic land type by name.

c ) It uses the guild mechanic.

If neither a, b or c isn’t true no matter how synergistic it may be it doesn’t get a guild watermark. It was important to have firm lines otherwise it would become impossible to decide what did and what didn’t get a watermark.
I'm not sure what other list there is. This seems like the only explanation :P

Still can't believe how the Boros are getting absolutely no love, and now I'm starting to have doubts about the effectiveness of their cards since there seems like there will be so little of them....Oh Aurelia! Please give me faith and show us your power! XD

EDIT: Also, anyone else notice in Giant Adephage the guy speaking the flavor text is the FIREFIST captain. Coincidence to yugioh? I think......Yes. Just a coincidence.

And there is the Boros spell that everyone has been asking for.

Also, with this 4 of the 10 guild now have a mythic X spell. I wonder who else gets more.

We also got a couple of other new cards
