Even if the card wasn't restricted to vanillas, it would still be pretty "meh". Lance and hole are preeeeetty much the only spells that your opponent will hit your monsters with, except for spellbook of fate in spellborks, but even then, there are much better side options than this in the event that you face that deck.

and the token protection effect is meaningless because mpb have a generic synchro that does the same thing (and more), and no one runs that because its also bad. this is a downgrade from conca-ruda in every respect.

Yeah Konami gets lazy much of the time with re-writing their effects.

I remember pulling out a Polymerization saying "Fusion Deck" from some pack in which Synchros were already a thing.

Sorta, yeah. It's not a straight Photoshop like this though.

Except having Dark Hole as its background fits the card well and makes perfect sense, since (yes, I'm pointing out the obvious) it depicts the elves being unaffected by it while Goblin Attack Force is getting sucked in.

As for the card itself - what needs to be said has already been said; it's useless.
