Jewel Flare Dragon Stardust

Recommended Posts

Does Stardust exist in the manga, or IS this that Stardust? I thought the manga version had this card treat its name as "Stardust".

This IS the Manga version of Stardust Dragon. And no, Jewel Flare never had the effect of treating itself as Stardust Dragon.

It's better than regular Stardust now, because it's a basically a Synchro version of Key Beetle. You can make this in the Incarnate mirror, set Emptiness and auto-win. It's better than Stardust because it can stop either itself or another monster from dying by battle, it doesn't leave the field in order to use its effect (so works with Emptiness) and stays on the field so they can't attack direct etc, can make a nice self-protection lock with safe-zone much like Key Beetle, and is just overall more versatile in what it can do.

I disagree on it being better than Stardust. They both have pros and cons, but Stardust generally works much better.

Stardust negates the activation of the destruction card. This means it'll stop things like Heavy Storm or Dark Hole or Mirror Force or Torrential. In other words, cards that would threaten multiple cards you control. In exchange, it leaves the Field for the turn and yes, it is then susceptible to things like DD Crow or Monster Reborn. But if the opponent doesn't have answers like that, then Stardust comes back and your Field was still untouched.

Certainly, if you plan to use Vanity's Emptiness, there are advantages to using Radiance (I remember this card's name as "Stardust Radiance Dragon", if confused) instead of Stardust. What Radiance does better is it protects a particular card of choice from destruction from battle or effects, and it is a Quick Effect, so it can use the effect to save that key card when it's threatened by board wipes. Protection from battle is important, but it only protects one card, and only once, so multiple attacks or multiple destruction effects can bait out Radiance's effect similar to how you can bait out Shi En or Stardust, but more effective because Radiance won't return to the Field during the End Phase.

It really will depend on the type of Deck you're using.
