Canadian
Since we'll be seeing a list within a month from now, I think it is a good time to start speculating what changes might occur to the TCG Banlist. What do you think will be banned, limited, semi-limited, or even unbanned? Please post your reasoning for your choices to merit an actual discussion. Daigusto Sphreez
Didn't even realize there was going to be an April ban list, it seems too soon. If that is the case, then I'd love to see Nurse Reficule limited to 1. Put Tenki back to 2 (ROTA is at 1, and is far less potent given the power of Bujins and Fire Fists/Kings). Oh and Bujin Yamato banned (4 dem lolz) And Stratos + Trishula at 1 would be nice.

May only go to 2 because of Bujin, but will go down. Dragons will probably go to 0, because they just do too damn much even at 1. Geargiagear or Geargiarmor will probably get a token hit. then again, this is the TCG, so they might just outright limit/ban Geargiagear.
Daigusto Sphreez
Does this look like the shitty OCG to you? GTFO Maybe Trishula is allowed to rock your boat, but what reasoning do you have for Stratos being banned? Oh because Elemental Heros are so meta right now lol my bad. Keep it banned because OCG have it, wow infallible logic you have.

Oh because Elemental Heros are so meta right now lol my bad. Keep it banned because OCG have it, wow infallible logic you have. TCG banlist isn't 100% about what's topping, if you hadn't noticed. They put Stratos to 0 because of all the loops n' shit it promotes while putting Malicious at 3 to make D-Draw less powerful. It's a perfectly reasonable change and unbanning it's just asking for a worse gamestate. People have been asking for it to be banned for years, and you're just another example of a wishywashy fan that just wants to complain when the fanbase gets what it wants and when it doesn't. Good job on assuming with the second part. Like, you didn't even try. I was making a point that the OCG's a pile of shit and we shouldn't follow how they're going. Unbanning Trishula was a horrible idea for the gamestate. And the OCG hit BUBBLEMAN to spare Stratos. Just fucking think about that for a minute. Althemia
itt f***Banned:Big Dragons - Outstayed their welcome. By a looooooooooooooooong while.Limited:Geargiarmor - This card's ridiculous and shouldn't have been made. Gives Geargia way too much power for what it's worth.Hieratic Seal of Convocation - Just to do something to hurt Hieratics since they are still a problem at the end of all this. Not as much since the Big Dragons are gone but yeah.Fire Formation Tenki - They should see how powerful this card is now that Fire Fist are arguably the top guys.Geargiagear - Unfair the card. Can't see them banning it outright because it does still have the constraint of making you play arguably shitty cards like the Geargiano that aren't MKII, but still.Semi-Limited:Gold Sacrophagus - I don't think they have to worry about this being a problem now that the Big Dragons are gone.Sacred Star Sword thing idk - Big Dragons are gone, they can begin to undo damages.Unlimited:Dragon Ravine - Big Dragons are gone and a way to get Dragunity back into the game. May not happen though and might be stretching it, but I could see this being a plausible move on their part.I'll add more as I think of it, I think that's all I really can think of at this moment though. I feel like this banlist will moreso be a case of getting rid of the big dragons and then undoing all of the hits they caused unnecessarily to keep them around

Stratos is easy to get out at 1, but it isnt that easy to retrieve once its been used. Cards like Spellbook of Fate are far more recyclable (and easily abusable) in their archetypal deck than Stratos, and that card is at 1. I think hitting Malicious is preferable to banning Stratos if anything, since Malicious at 3 with Plaguespreader being unlimited will make the Beelze/Void Ogre dragon combo too good anyway. I'm really not a wishwashy fan, Not even a major fan of Elemental Heroes at all, but their tournament legal support is pretty dire at the moment. I have less qualms with Trishula staying banned, although I wouldn't have minded a format with it at 1 to see what impact it would have.

OT: I mostly agree with Koko's hits on this thing, but I get the feeling they will outright ban either Armour or Gear simply because both are really stupid cards, and there's been past evidence of similar. Also I doubt they'd move Ravine straight back to 3. Not immediately at the least. EDIT: Also is the idea of them outright banning Spirit ridiculous? Since it doesn't seem so unlikely. Alsol lol@too good. Malicious + Plague is inconsistent at best, and most decks can have monster-only outs anyways (101, Pleiades, Oreia, Crystal Zero Lancer, Alsei, Ptolemy, and that's just non-destruction removal). Not like Beelze even gives a damn about non-negation S/T anyways, and Void Ogre's only good when they have no real advantage to speak of. It's powerful, but it's certainly not anything to ever be called "too good". Just knock down Void Ogre and they probably don't have the advantage to back up Beelze anymore and you can hit it with S/T or kill it next turn. Beelze's not that threatening a card when you have even trace amounts of advantage and a coherent ED. Mali at 3 may not be the healthiest choice for the game, but it's healthier than Stratos for sure.

Slinky
BANNED: Rekindling (One can dream right?) Solemn Warning LIMITED: Karakuri Burei/do (promotes ludicrously unfair otks and is more unfair than geargiagear imo) Dark Strike Fighter (with OPT Errata) DMoC (c'mon, please?) semi-limited: Tenki (Lets face it, Konami ain't gonna limit it) Magician of Faith (Didnt do anything) Sacred Sword Gold Sarc Baby Dragons Unlimited: Magical Stone Exavation (bout time this damn thing came off) Ravine NEW RULE IMPLEMENTED: You can't have more than 1 "Daddy Dragon" in a deck. Zauls
I'm personally thinking (and I'm going to get an explosion of hate for this) that MST will go to 1/2 and Storm will come back to 1, provided they hit Tenki (which they will). I am pretty sure that Artifacts will be a Tier 1 deck when then come out, and people may end up not main-decking Storm at big events etc. It will be a much more skilful card and to be honest I, like a lot of people, am fed up of a game where everyone can set their hand without worrying. But that's never applicable logic. Otherwise Ruler format would've seen most of the forbidden list moved off. The curent meta shouldn't allow degenerate stuff to float about because there's worse stuff than it. It's that kind of logic that turns a format into the OCG

Artifacts won't be enough to move storm back, because once they die the game becomes what it used to be: OTK heavy. And Heavy will return to being sacky. Also especially not at MST's expense. Since MST is balanced, skillful and fair. All things that Heavy would rather quickly not be.

Zauls
Can Storm just stay banned please, and come up with a suitable replacement that doesnt nuke everything? like maybe, it hits 2 cards instead? There are a couple of viable replacements for Storm. Chain Whirlwind is gaining a little popularity, and soon Malevolent Catastrophe will be in one deck... Moving Storm back to 1 is a risky move, I agree, since we really don't know how relevant Artifacts are going to be and it can create an OTK format, but a lot of decks can OTK through backrow and we already have Trap Stun which is basically an OTK enabler and Trap Stun is fine IMO. I prefer Storm formats to non-Storm formats, what can I say. However if Storm did come back it would be slightly different these days. With regards to other changes, I think Rekindling will finally get banned, Tenki to 2 (they won't limit it), Geargiagear to 1, perhaps Blue Boy to 1, Teus to 1 and Gaia Charger banned. Also MoF to 2, Magical Stone Excavation to 3 and some of the things Koko said.
Daigusto Sphreez
@PhantomBlack I didn't say 'isn't recyclable', perhaps you are making too many assumptions yourself. Most decks that can hope to be competitive have a searcher, and Stratos is that searcher. I don't play in OCG format, so maybe Stratos at 1 in TCG would be insane. But given the competition of the meta right now, I really don't think it would make Heros so overwhelmingly good. The Plaguespreader/Mali combo isn't exactly broken I agree, but it really isn't that inconsistent if you build the deck well. Dark Grepher and Armageddon Knight set things up pretty fast all by themselves. The main issue with Mali is the draw engine if anything. @Horus Lupercal It is applicable logic though. You must know that Konami isn't going to make the fairest choices all of the time. They are trying to promote their new cards after all. If certain overpowered cards are allowed and are unlikely to get banned anytime soon, then it'd at least be nice if other archetypes can retrieve support to contest them. Wildflame
It's waaaay too soon for a new banlist. I don't see the Rulers being Banned. Maybe a hit on the Hieratic side. Geargias will get a hit, for sure. Tenki needs to go down. And, uhhmmm, that's everything relevant.

I just went off of your argument. Your argument was that it's not as recyclable as other things, but it's just as recyclable as most things. On top of that, comparing Stratos to a removal card that uses up resources is pretty dumb. The fact that most decks that compete have a searcher doesn't make an extremely versatile and easy to set off searcher that isn't once per turn fine, even at one. That's like saying Infernity Archfiend's fine for the gamestate.Get this through your thick skull: The TCG doesn't just hit Tier Decks. It improves Game Health. And no, it's still pretty inconsistent. Dead Drawing mali is a bitch, y'know. And Plagues are deadish in hand, too, untoil you get Mali.
