How do you think the pyramids were built?

I very much doubt its Aliens. I've seen a few documentaries, I suppose the mathematical element does seem insane to have been able to do then, but necessity breeds invention, so it might be that made them do such feats in terms of that.

I doubt aliens built them, but perhaps a divine force helped them to do it.

(Textbooks still say that they were built over 20 or something years using man power)

Even with the laws of physics and other stuff that we know (and the times that these were built in), it would be hard to move a several ton stone block up an inclined ramp x amount of feet at some angle. Or they had some method that we don't know. Only way we'd know for certain is if we could somehow go past to said era and watch them build.

[Just to check if we're on same page, you're talking about the usual ones or the pyramids in Central America (stepped)?]

I'm talking about the "usual" pyramids.

Stephen Fry: What do you call a pyramid with a flat top like the Aztecs prefered?

Alan Davies: Unfinished.

*Ba-dum tuush*

But seriously, the Eygptians were a pretty advanced race so that basic maths and engineering is hardly beyond belief. There has to be a hieroglyphic scripture/scroll/etc with the math/planning design on it somewhere.

Plus obviously a lot of slave labour.

Aliens first come to mind, but we have to realize that the Egyptians were one of the first civilizations to use engineering.

It's very simple engineering, but they used a hell of a lot of it.

From what I figure, they used pulleys to hoist material upwards, and the thing about pulleys is that the more you use, the less force you need to lift a load on the opposite end.

This promotes the idea of the use of pulleys, as it's the only way they could've lifted those loads without the use of ramps, which would only be a waste of material. They also had many slaves to pull on several ropes to spread out the load as much as possible. Keep in mind, they had a f*ck-ton of slaves, so force and weight distribution wasn't scarce in the slightest.

Also keep in mind that the Great Wall was built pretty much the same way, and many, and I mean MANY, people have died along the way. They also both have dead bodies inside them. Imagine that.

Regarding the amount of "built by aliens" posts, I think the defining argument against that is:

If aliens had come to this planet thousands of years ago... don't you think that they'd have had better things to do than build pyramids, just to confuse the humans in millenia to come?

"Ha ha ha, look at the puny humans scratch their heads in bewilderment at our doing. Mwa ha ha" (in an alien voice)

Probably have a sense of humor different then ours; their extra terrestrials, they might think different then us. I'm not  saying they were built by aliens but, the people who said aliens were more likely joking.

I would hope so.

But this is YCM we're talking about here...

Should've probably saw that coming but I usually take some ridiculous statements on the internet and pass it off as a joke, even the racist comments on Youtube, I'll think of it mistranslation or trolling unless I see their user page. At least it isn't DNF or DuelistGroundz, or whatever other websites people hate here.

Also, some of the people who were making the pyramids were possibly paid, maybe not all the slaves but maybe some; I have to check my source.
