Won't lie. That is one hell of an obnoxious verse. I've found that indie pop suffers from really awkward verses, but here the solution almost seems to just remove the verse in favour of an instrumental bridge. I think that best describes what's happened here. Their verse would function ten times better as a single instrumental bridge. It simply doesn't have the staying power to perform as a verse.
