So I mentioned at some point that I spend a sheet ton of time on Soundcloud listening to mashups between pop songs and nerdy sheet, sometimes in awe at how well a song from Metroid works with Black Skinhead.

And sometimes, you hear a song, get reminded of another song, and wonder yourself just why no one has made a mashup of the two. This is how it starts. I wanna lrn2mash.

Who wore it better?

Hellogoodbye - "Here (In Your Arms)"

Julien Lamassonne - "Un Monde Sans Danger/A World Without Danger" (Title Theme of "Code Lyoko")

Tell me I'm not crazy.

The four chord song strikes again! Yeah, the two would mash up well. Even beyond the chord progression, there's a lot of common musical elements. Faint hints of Euro techno, similar rhythm guitar, stuff like that.

This song makes me too happy. Also has an awesome video.

The video is great fun. I've never liked Panic at the Disco that much, because they don't seem to offer anything that interesting, and manage to be way too cheesy doing it. The songs in general aren't too bad though. They know a catchy hook when they see one, after all. This song I really can't take seriously though. Not directly its own fault, but the 'finders keepers losers weepers' refrain is just too uncanny to the cantina song from Star Wars.

Is it just me or does this song feel weird?

It's essentially Problem, but slightly worse. I think Jamie Foxx screaming 'focus on me' is far more obnoxious than Big Sean whispering on Problem. The production sounds really crowded too. Too many random different ideas being bounced around, and none of them given any chance to shine. I think the best part of the track is easily the sax break, and it's a shame that the sax accompaniment isn't used more in the first half. i think the bridge that follows straight after that is completely superfluous too.

And while rai is a slep and won't notice, here's my favorite Adele song

Great, great song. Very melodramatic. It follows a very, very traditional pop song structure, and pulls it off incredibly well. The verses don't feel like filler, which is the hallmark of a great pop song. It's one of her more orchestrally-arranged songs, and she has the strength of voice to rise above all the strings, compared to her more acoustic songs elsewhere (obviously she did Skyfall which was even more bombastic). Last half minute is great stuff.

Takes a lot from folk music, and especially stuff like Irish folk and dance music. In general, the general Celtic vibe comes across well. It's in 6/8 time, which is classic Irish jig time, and the violin melody definitely takes from that tradition (fast, constant movement). Obviously, this track is much more laid back, and isn't fundamentally a jig, so there's a lot more breathing space. The violin and recorder have the time to back-and-forth the melody line, which probably wouldn't work if it were faster.

You can't deny the fact that this is a classic.

Absolute classic! Not a huge amount to say, but the chromatic bassline is actually really interesting, looking back at it. Really livens up the song. Fun chord progressions in there. Definitely takes a book out of musical theatre.

Rai, my man!

Ah, I love this song. I probably couldn't listen to the entirety of the Madeon debut, because it's generally quite samey, but You're On is definitely a bit left-of-centre from what he usually does. Recontexualising his chiptune, j-poppy electronic music via the vector of big diva anthems and 90s R&B is really interesting. Kyan does a great job, and the chopped up vocal samples at the beginning that become the hook are genuinely super great. A lot of the synths feel incredibly 90s, and there's some piano in the mix, which does give a bit of a piano house feel. Not much else to say, but Madeon does always make his production sound effortlessly featherlight.

I'd be remissed if I didn't also include the intro to You're On on the album in Isometric since it's kinda perfect to me when they're played back to back (without that dumb Spotify lagggggggg!!!!!1!!!)

I agree with Rai on the sameness of a lot of the album. Even though I bought the whole thing, I only really ever listen to maybe 4 songs off it (You're On, Pay No Mind, Pixel Empire (is calming), and on a random occassion, Imperium– which I also hate with a passion on occassion. There's just that one part that can get me...) Technically I also listen to The City and Finale. A lot. But those were part of an EP long before so I don't really include them. :'>

i'm here to post og f-zero music

I just want this song remade with an actual 80's synth

and now here's an actual race track song. it's name doesn't really make sense for the song unless "silence" in the f-zero universe just means "no fast paced, guitar riff-filled songs"

and since i'm here ofc i have to post mute city & big blue
