Blackwing - Pinaka the Waxing Moon

If this card is used as a Synchro Material, all other Synchro Materials must be "Blackwing" monsters. During the End Phase, if this card is in the Graveyard because it was sent there from the field this turn: You can add 1 "Blackwing" monster from your Deck to your hand, except "Blackwing - Pinaka the Waxing Moon". You can only use this effect of "Blackwing - Pinaka the Waxing Moon" once per turn.

discuss?

This card is stupidly good.

You can search it off of Black Whirlwing from Blizzard while making Nothung, which means you can drop a 7 if you have Kris/Bora in hand, which has Joe, Armor Master, BRD, MRD, and CWSD for great targets.

Then you search Kris/Shura/Blizzard for next turn. If at least nothung remains for the turn, you can NS Blizzard, search Pinaka and revive something, NS Pinaka, use Nothung and Blizzard for a synchro, use the revived BW and Pinaka for hawk joe and revive Nothung for 800 burn and 800 knockdown, and search again in the EP

Excellent. It helps with one of the major problems with Blackwings--getting punished for overextending. It's still super-aggressive and not fun to draw, but at least Bora does something card-advantagey now.

Getting punished for overestending is not a "major problem with Blackwings". It's an integral part of the card game.

No, it is a problem with Blackwings considering the game state.

Almost every synchro era deck, even with legacy supports, tends to die to even one time overextension punishment. Hell, even extension punishment. This isn't news.

Weren't you the one saying we needed more traps to prevent overextension?

We do. But, in terms of an archetype/deck type's weaknesses, synchro decks or decks from that era are generally extreme vulnerable.

I'm not saying it's good to give them ways to recover from being punished for overextension in design, but they do sorely lack it in power level.

If an Archetype/Deck/etc's only means of doing things is throwing it's hand onto the field and has no actual means of recovery; Yes, it's a major problem with the Archetype/Deck/etc if said method of doing things ends up falling flat on it's face.
Because you can't do shit otherwise, and effectively loose on the spot.

Not every Archetype/Deck/etc is like this.
