Magical Hats

During your opponent's Battle Phase: Choose 2 non-Monster Cards from your Deck and 1 monster you control. Shuffle those 3 cards and Set them on the field in Defense Position. The 2 cards chosen from your Deck are treated as Normal Monsters (ATK 0/DEF 0) and are destroyed at the end of the Battle Phase.

 

A card I find to be underestimated. I use this card a lot in my Fluffal deck, it's actually my preferred usage of Toy Vendor. Discuss the potential this card can have?

The card has a lot of fun combos, though few of them have stood out like the Geartown one during its time.

I can imagine someone using Sound of Retreat to turn Magical Hats into "search S/T from Deck to hand". Or re-setting a FLIP. Or just putting on Graveyard-friendly cards into the Grave like Breakthrough Skill. 

 

I really like this card, although most of the uses I've tried to give it have eventually fallen out of favor for me for other plays in their decks. Not all, but a good amount of its uses.

I remember going to a Regionals and the judge said "All of your card sleeves, including the Extra, have to be the same color & type" due to this card. Only heard that once at a tournament. Once. Haven't heard it since.


Actually it was ruled that way for a couple of YCSes before they realised how stupid that was.

Now you can have different sleeves for your extra deck right?

 

Yeah. I suppose Magical Hats is not a good enough reason to have to deal with the many gamelosses caused by people drawing Exciton Knight.
