Cannot be Special Summoned from the Deck. You can banish thisface-up card you control; Special Summon 2 Level 4 or lower Normal Monsters with the same name from your Deck. Destroy them during theEnd Phase. You can only use the effect of "Rescue Rabbit" once perturn.

Been thinking this could come off the list (or at least to Semi) now that Tour Guide is at 2 and it's not as Leviair-abusable.  YCM's thoughts?

It adds nothing good to the game, so it can stay where it is, in my opinion. And evilswarm are a cancer to the game in general, just because of how little they teach you about playing the game. It interacts less than exodia ffs.

I don't think it's quite as bad as Exodia...

Exodia teaches you more about the gamestate than Evilswarm does.

Evilswarm is almost completely make ophion, sit and pray you have enough backrow.

It's certainly not the only deck that does so, but it's a prominent one.

Exodia teaches both the player (to a degree) and the opponent about how to adapt to matchups and play differently when needed. Ophion/Evilswarm... don't do that. They are the most simplistic, uneventful gamestate inducing deck. And it's not like any of the cards are anything but generic as shit, they just happen to be 'anti-meta' flavored... Except for, y'know, the actually playable ones not named Thunderbird. Even Thunderbird's just okay nowadays.

Speaking of Evilswarms....

It's funny how This card is the only play they ever honestly make.

You can disagree with me all you like, but you know it's true.

They can go -Castor into X - into Xyz. Just like Sacreds with Pollux, but they don't get awesome Kaust shenanigans.

It has so many fun plays I'd want to try out if it was at more than 1.

Though of course, I'm not saying it should go up. I'm not sure how much of a problem the revived backrow-heavy decks would be nowadays, and know it is still risky.

Also, despite wanting it back for the fun plays, the problematic ones can't just be ignored here.... so le sigh.

What sort of errata would be needed for this to go up? If Rescue Rabbit had "cannot be special summoned" from anywhere instead of just not from the deck would it be fairer, or would it need a "you cannot Special Summon from the Extra Deck this turn" clause (or even Special summon any other monsters)?

Hmmm...

Let's see.... what are the issues on Rescue Rabbit's usages?

Tour Guide single-handedly becomes Leviair + a Rank 4 (mostly Dolkka, Laggia, Chidori, Ophion back in the day). Now Tour Guide isn't all that much of a worthwhile tech at 1, but the deck can still do it with Crane Crane.

I think it'd be a good start if Rescue Rabbit cannot be Special Summoned at all. Though that'd mostly hurt the consistency of the deck rather than its power, and that can get sacky.

The monsters themselves can hit for some pretty heavy damage and the decks using it love heavy backrows.

I'd say have the monsters not able to attack directly. That way the damage they do connect will be due furthering your play.

Then something along the lines of:

Those monsters cannot be used as Materials while there are Set cards in your Spell/Trap Zones, and if they are used as Materials for the Summon of the same monster, your turn ends.

I'm not sure how much I just killed it, but that's what I could think about. At the end it'd look something like:

Cannot be Special Summoned. You can banish this face-up card you control; Special Summon 2 Level 4 or lower Normal Monsters with the same name from your Deck. They cannot be used as Materials for a Summon while there are Set cards in your Spell/Trap Zones. If they are used as Materials for the Summon of the same monster, your turn ends.Destroy them during the End Phase. You can only use the effect of "Rescue Rabbit" once per turn.

Maybe it could allow for something line a single face-down or something and loosen these nerfs a little bit too.
