Unlike with my run (which did 6 per day), Striker's doing 4 at a time; both regular and redemption.

So yeah, you should be in the third batch, Lunar.

Just for the record, I've decided to withdraw from the tournament due to personal reasons, so there shouldn't be any 3P fights this time around.

If you do not see my name in the matches, now you know. (I advanced on to round 2, but given certain things, I decided it was best that I quietly withdraw from this)

------

I'm only keeping track of the regular fights; redemption will be kept in the separate thread.

If they're on tonight's matches, then they will be on the next batch for tomorrow's.

With that in mind, this round is the last of the elimination ones.

Once those are over, we'll be doing round-robins to determine an overall.

(I talked to Striker about how things are going to be run for that portion, seeing as it can get hectic after a while)

I'm assuming that is the case as well, since I'm not in charge of organizing the fights (again, only documenting what they are + winners that emerge from this).

Although I talk to Striker regarding the pairings and how the rest of the tournament will pan out, I do not know what the matches will be.

(I've PMed him about this, in the event that he doesn't check up in here)

After this round concludes, it'll be the RR fights.

So far, there are no ties, so things should work out smoothly (although things will still work even if we do have tied matches).

Considering we had 52 members to contend with at the start of the tournament [this was designed on a 48-man thing, but there was some unexpected overflow], doing RRs like that from the start would've made things take forever.

(Would be a more accurate picture of member standing, but I don't think we'd want to be dragging this thing out for an extended period of time; not to mention how much the tournament would flood Polls; even if the activity is appreciated.)

----

Basically, first three rounds are straight elimination fights to figure out the best ones (48 [R1] -> 24 [R2] -> 12 [R3] -> 6 [RR]); then the remaining 6 will fight it out in RRs to determine an absolute winner.

Each win gets 2 points, a tie is 1 point and losses are obvious zeroes in calculating the final scores.

----

Basically, survive this round and you're guaranteed at least 6th place (or 7th, depending if we have a tie somewhere later on).

Of course, that means you'll be pitted against all of the other members who've survived.

The tournament should end within a week or two, given the RR fights should only take a day per batch. I wouldn't say the tournament is over yet, but the elimination process certainly is coming to a close.

With that in mind, the prize images need to be prepared [although there's a week to prepare them].

As for the RR thing, we had it set to top 6, so we'd have a definitive list of people.

If we had a smaller pool, then perhaps we could've done RR all the way; but 52 people at the start is, again, too much and would drag the tournament on for longer than we'd like.

I'd like to take YMB VII. Group stages with RR with 48-64 people to determine a 16 person bracket would be nice. That's just a beginning thought though.

I believe that's similar to what Agro did? So whenever you do this (It really should be at least 6 months from the end of this one, if not longer) maybe ask him what he did/look for his thread.

Anyone who wants to take YMB 7 is more than welcome to do it.

You don't need permission for that.

As for what Agro did in YMB 5, he only had 32 competitors [likely due to lack of staff nominations and other things], but basically did RR the whole way. (I'll explain it if you'd rather not search for it)

  • Participants divided into 8 groups
  • Members are given RR matches against one another within group.
  • Top 2 from each group move on
  • The remaining 16 fight in single elimination matches

So yeah Striker, the format you'd like to do is kind of similar.

Just so things are made easier, the RR standings will be noted on the main post (like they would've been).

However, here's a half-time progress report for what happened so far.

Reminder that wins are 2 points, ties are 1 and losses are 0.

SCOREBOARD FOR RR

Zextra - 0

Rai - 4

Armz - 2

CowCow - 6

Rodrigo - 4

Nai - 2

Thus far, Cow is winning; followed by a tie between Armz/Rod for 2nd and Rai/Nai are 3rd. Zextra still needs to get on the board.

[Striker's in charge of the matches now, but any awards that were mentioned earlier will be distributed as promised. Scoreboard makes it easier to keep track of standings.]

I can pretty much say that this batch is where Zex will either make it onto the board, or be wiped out.

Right now, he's tied against Rod; but losing against Rai.

Well, for the most part, it's pretty much been the same people voting for and against me in each match, so based on that, I doubt either match will go my way, but a little wishful thinking doesn't hurt, does it? :p

On another note, 6th place is still cool, though.

Yeah, it is more/less the same people voting for the other person [but at least you still have people who like you].

But you can still force a tie if that's the most that comes out of these.

@Striker: I know you can do that (since that's how I was keeping track of match wins and stuff during the DP tournaments, and some other miscellaneous stuff).

Although scores are pretty much accurate thus far (in the event people don't want to wait and stuff); save for the parts with the ties [although I can probably still do it manually, even if it is a pain]

Then again, we'll have to see if we have tiebreakers at the end.

(I am still keeping tabs on things, even though I'm not posting matches)

I know; I feel warm and fuzzy inside, hehe. And whatever happens here, hopefully I can stick around and be more active over the summer. :)
