Igknight Derringer (906)

Recommended Posts

You're tired of... running one of the better Igknights?

Run it over the shitty Lv. 3 2 scale, not Caliber.

I'm tired of running it because I can't pendulum summon 'im. It's called summoning en masse, which Caliber doesn't like taking part in apparently.

... huh?

It's level 6.

Igknight scales are 2/7.

How can you not?

2 - 7 = 5, that's how. Caliber is Level 6.

So.

... you don't get how this mechanic works, do you? Really, read up on things before making a statement ._.;

Pendulum allows you to summon any monsters whose levels are BETWEEN their scales, not the difference between them.

I can set Performapal Partnaga (3 Scale) and Lizardraw (6 Scale), and I can summon level 4 and 5 monsters. Not less, not more.

If I instead set Performapal Pendulum Wizard (2 Scal) in plac of Partnaga, I can also summon Level 3 monstes.

You've been playing Igknights and don't know how Pendulum Scales work?

Oh dear...

I'm so much more hype for more Dracoknights than Igknights, although Igknights had potential to be cool if their boss monsters were worth anything...

Just give them time. All great things start off small, and I'm sure Igknights are no exception.

Igknights were actually at their height when they were cheating a couple months ago.

It made me... very angry.

They still have all kinds of dumb plays with their Extra flooding, though I don't see them getting any more interesting in the future.

It wasn't cheating. At all. It was perfectly valid with the pre-release text.

On release, the wording was changed, which made it no longer work.

No difference from when Lightpulsar didn't miss timing or when Stardust Warrior could summon copies of itself, though those were rectified sooner.

Which is why you don't play with the cards until they're officially released. Honestly, people, we've seen this happen multiple and yet we still go "Alright!" and then go with the broken, incorrect rulings.

And why shouldn't you try to plan ahead? Like, it's not a matter of incorrect rulings. Other examples of the text being edited to not be broken were done within, like, a week, where the Igknights didn't change for 1.5~2 Months, despite having more Igknight cards revealed 2 weeks after the initial batch. Konami really didn't realize how bad what they'd done was until after that, which means it's on them for not correcting it sooner.

Telling people not to figure out what's truly relevant in the next set doesn't make any sense at all, except as a wrongly self-righteous pulpet.

Every Igknight you add to the Deck is a card you have to take out for consistency. If 21 of your cards are Igknights, only 19 can be other things.

It's not like Igknights have access to 6 RoTAs and 21 monsters that search. The idea of the deck is to reach a critical mass of Igknights, having more Igknights allows you to do that easier.

Except then you forfeit space for additional power cards. Taken to its logical extreme, you can run a 40-card engine, but it loses any ability to deal with obstacles.

That's what Igknight basically is though. You either play Igknight and take that risk, or don't.

A 40-card engine dies to a well-timed MST. It dies to Mistake and similar cards. It dies to Vanity's and similar cards. Do you really wanna run a deck where you basically lose every Game 1?

How is it a 40 card engine?

21 Igknights

3 RoTA

3 Summoner's Art

That's 27 cards. You in theory have 13 free spaces, granted most of them are gonna be stuff like Library.

It's gonna be 24 Igknights in all likelihood. So that's already 30 cards. Things like Library are part of the engine. What wouldn't be part of the engine are cards like Galaxy Cyclone.

Assuming 24 (Scale 7 Level 6), you have to account for the lower quality of Magnum and Eagle, the level 3s are dead cards if you don't open RML.

While 24 Igknight + 6 searcher + 3 Race + 3 Upstart + 3 RML + 1 Rescue Hamster/Terraforming is a tempting glass cannon, you also have to account for the value each knight grants.

The 4s are the highest, given cards like Rhongo and th R4 toolbox. They both have decent stats, and are a +1 when they explode, given the nature of Pendulums.

Riot, the 5, has decent stats and makes Shark Fortress... and Zenmaioh, but namely fortress, who wins games. Derringer increases this value, as she has good stats and is a 5.

Caliber, the 6, has decent stats and makes R6 (Ptolemy, Basil) in order to seal the deal.

The 3s... make no good Xyz. They do decently with Yuki/Tuners, but if you have a projected 24 + stuff, no space. Magnum is a 0/20, which is God awful, and Eagle is okay for 1600 atk. But... they're essentially dead advantage in the ED. They're good as scales, but terrible to explode, which means you really have to consider if you want them.

Replacing the threes means you have good value without being super streamlined by running bad cards.
