Because this means the card is considered format-legal, but the vast majority of players don't have it. This is great, a worthy reward for a tournament placement, and normally wouldn't be a problem, except for the ABSURD amount of time a card released as a prize will be reprinted and available to the public. Note my earlier example: No.106. People WANT this card. Not because it's a powerful card, but because it's a Number. It's a collector's item by nature of being a Number. Lots of people want it purely for that. But it hasn't shown any indication of being reprinted in the foreseeable future, which means there's a card missing from a TON of people's collections. And it won't be included in "all new cards" sets because it's considered released already, even though very very few people have it, or even had a chance to have it. Other prize cards have been Match Winners or special cards that weren't legal for official play. That makes it worth something, but not a mockery to the rest of the fanbase because a usable, desirable card is in absurdly limited circulation. VampireofDarkness Posted July 16, 2015 Report Share Posted July 16, 2015 Keep in mind if Chain is banned, this is your one way to get Clown/Blades in the Graveyard, so if this card gets such a treatment and Chain is banned, it will make Clownblade Seraph (Assuming the rest isn't hit) a T0 Deck available to only people with supreme money or who won this event. Even worse, people would be encouraged to stack with it, flip ROTA to search that Blades or Bergh, stack them Clowns and LS for free advantage. It happened with Crush Card, it'll happen with Minerva. As someone for whom winning a prize card is not completely out of the picture I really like the idea of prize cards that are actually valuable because it gives a much higher incentive to do well in tournaments - Ascension Sky Dragon was a bit shitty in that regard. I don't really know quite how good the card is but I don't envisage it being that expensive - after all, Giant Hand is a pretty good card in a whole ton of decks but that's only about £350, although admittedly after the tournament cycle. We weren't going to get it for a year or two anyway and I still wouldn't rule out the possibility of prize cards eventually getting reprinted (it's possible that they're just not bothering with Divorgzhak and Mephist because they funking suck). A load of people are moaning about poor prize support for major tournaments these days, whilst I sympathise with people who just want the card I'm not particularly fussed about it and at least it might well slightly increase tournament sizes or at least give a bigger prize to play for. Even if the card is in WSUP2, something I doubt due to the lack of print of other YCS prize cards like Blood Mefist and Dracoascension, it's still a PR outrage because no one wanted this. This isn't a card that's designed for a prize, it's a playable card and the Lightsworn community more than likely was very excited to be receiving it. Now, there is a chance they may not receive it at all, and it sets a horrible precedent for future prizes to come. Konami has once again proven it doesn't care if it backstabs the community. This is probably one of the worst moves they could have made. Prize cards should not be this type of thing and sitting around and not saying anything only opens the floodgates for more cards to be explicitly and conveniently removed from the TCG to promote new TCG exclusive product. Hello? Also fun fact: in the time I played both MTG and YGO, Pot of Duality went from being a $150 card to a $4 one because it was reprinted SO MANY TIMES. In those 5 years, Force of Will, a huge MTG staple in older formats, increased its price by $70 and got reprinted as a Judge Promo, which makes it even less accesible than Minerva in this case or Number 106. I know Konami pulls off shitty moves like this. But in the grander scale, they're a pretty good company with mostly sensible business sense. Yeah, it's kinda a dick move, but let's get some things out of the way: You shouldn't need to win a YCS (repeatedly to get multiple, should I add) to get to play a deck optimally. Also, Magic cards tend to be more of an investment. Yugioh is just like a drunken stupor where you throw your money up the wall and then nothing is worth anything a year later because Konami doesn't want you playing older product. Force of Will Judge Promo is also legitimately bad, but Wizards of the Coast are not a company I trust either. The TCG card pool should not be gimped because someone wants to punish you for not being Japanese and playing Yugioh. It's almost like the TCG is an irrelevance now, as it's completely seperate to the game that receives full sets and it's cards on time, with TCG exclusives being a bad excuse to keep TCG players thinking they aren't always getting the shorter end of the stick. I mean, Vanguard gave out Sphere Magus, a card that has an accessible functional counterpart in Lozenge Magus. I wouldn't care at all if we wasn't screwed out of cards constantly, I just feel very betrayed by Konami as I was excited for this card myself.
