Dueling in Public

So, there's a guy I know that runs Cyber Dragons, and naturally I try to sell him my copy of CyDra Infinity. The moment I meet up with him, I name my price. He claims my price is way too high, and offers me one that's insultingly low. Neither of us is willing to haggle, so he offers to Duel me for it- he wins, he pays his price, I win, he pays my price.

I reach in my bag for my Dragon Deck, and he specifically says he'll only go against what's in my white Deck Box.

Now, for those who know me, they know my white box is essentially my "whatever the hell" Deck, just whatever I've thrown together with not enough members to make a serious Deck. Right now, it's Raidraptors, without any of the new stuff, and not a single Force Strix. It's running Skull Eagle for Deck filler, it's so underoptimized.

However, I suppose that I might just try to field a Castel or something to push him back [note: ED is Grenosaurus, 3 Rise Falcon, Castel, Zerofyne, DRXD, 2 Blaze Falcon, and Revolution Falcon], and I accept.

So, he goes first, fields a combo that leads to triple Nova, and blows up his own field for Cyber End and double Cyber Twin. He sets one card, and leaves his hand empty.

Now I know I have to end this this turn, because if I don't I know he's going to topdeck Overload Fusion, Limiter Removal, or Honest. I'm worried about the Set card, because his Deck has exactly six Traps- 3 Network, which is irrelevant, 2 DNA Surgery, which would prevent most plays, and a single Solemn Warning. He also has a Forbidden Lance, but I'm not worried about that right now.

Why, you ask?

My opening hand is 3 Vanishing, 1 Sharp, and 1 Singing. I then draw into Nest . . . and I just laugh.

Nest.

Vanishing x3.

Sharp.

Activate Nest, add Mimicry to my hand just in case.

Xyz Rise Falcon.

Singing.

Xyz DRXD.

Rise Falcon's effect, boost it to 4100.

DRXD's effect, cut End to 2000, boost it to 4500.

Rise Falcon attacks everything.

DRXD attacks for game.

The look of shock on his face was priceless.

As was the guy behind me, who began screaming "For the Revolution!" when Rise Falcon hit the field against 3 Fusions, and only grew louder as things continued. I couldn't help it, and use the anime attack/effect names.

EDIT: I neglected to mention that I did DRXD's Summoning chant, but I couldn't have done Rise Falcon's if I tried- I don't know it.

So, there's my story- what's your crazy "Dueling in public" moment?

It was one of his copies of Network, actually.

He could have use it to banish drei and survive 1 more turn (judging by the situation i wouldnt matter).

One more thing that bugs me: doesnt nova floats only if sent by an opponent's effect? (you said he blew up his own field so i guess the 3 fusions went through the 3 nova, i could be wrong)

Nevertheless awesome duel and story specially the revolution part

M8, I r8 this story 8/8.

I have two "dueling in public" stories, but one doesn't actually involve me dueling anyone. There was a corner at my old school where people gathered to duel, and it actually would have been pretty cool if most of the people that played didn't act and play like the idiots you see on DN (this eventually got better though). One kid, who I called Crysworn due to his constant whininess and use of Lightsworns, was dueling a guy who was using Constellars. Constellars Kid usually tried his best, but unfortunately usually ended up losing against Crysworn.

Except this time. This time, Constellars Kid managed to pull off a well deserved win, and Crysworn's reaction was priceless. He flipped out and literally started screaming that the only reason he won was because he got lucky. I mockingly comment that I found it hilarious that the guy using Lightsworns was complaining about luck, to which he responds by storming up to my face and screaming that I'd better wipe my smug grin off my face or he'd wipe it off for me.

This story involved me dueling Constellars Kid. I was using Fire Kings and didn't have anything to defend myself with aside from a Yaksha. The other guy had all his monster zones filled and was visibly very happy about the way things were going. He figured he had game, attacked my Yaksha and triggered his effect. I destroyed...

Earthbound Immortal Ccarayhua from my hand and undid all of his hard work. He looked so disappointed and pissed, but was still a good sport about it in the end.

Well do locals count?

First ever regionals. I was running Infernity. Matches 1,  2, and 4 were against Gravekeepers. f*** you, Necrovalley. Match 3 however....

The guy was running a Silent Magician deck that was actually pretty consistent.

I had Archfiend, Avenger, and Necromancer on my field. Avenger and Archfiend into Stygian Sergants. Necromancer brings back Avanger. Avanger and Necromancer into Armory Arm. Equip Arm to Sergants. Between the effects of Arm and Sergants, I got the guy down from 8000 Life Points to 200 Life Points in one move. Only problem, a turn or two later, I was facing down Scar Red Nova Dragon and Silent Magician Level 8. Had 1000 Life Points, nothing in my hand, or on my field.

I topdecked Infernity Archfiend, added Necromancer to my hand. Banished Stygian Street Patrol to Special Summon it. Brought back Avenger. Avanger, Necromancer, and Archfiend into Inferity Death Dragon. Used its effect for game.

There was also the time Pacman and I tag dueled two guys at a sneak peak. We lost, but I had pulled Rat and Zenmighty from my packs, and I think he got some Ninja Xyz or something, so yeah....

I got one good.

So, college (a great place for this to happen at xD). I was currently in a waiting period for my next class, when one of my...acquaintances I'll call him (couldn't stand him, mistreated his wife...on campus no doubt), challenged me to a duel. Naturally, I accept the challenge. Truth be told, my record against him was pretty good (he barely won anything). The guy ran a very poor Morphtronic deck, adding the Meklords into the mix. So, instead of using my HERO deck, I threw in my Crystal Beast deck. He had all these cards just ready to do something, but couldn't do half of it because he had the Meklord monsters out, which I could target for an attack instead of his Morphtronics.

Long story short, I Crystal Abundance'd his field and ended the game with ease, and he legit raged quit. He took his cards and left, getting steamed. I couldn't help but laugh as the same with my friend. It was obvious he couldn't play (due to "Original Rule" syndrome of YGO), but it only proved that even I could beat him...and I'm not the best player by no means!

Answering the whole "why didn't he Network Drei", I don't know. He seems to specifically only use it for Deckthin.

As for "3 Nova = 3 CyDra Fusions", he does this every time. I've legitimately stopped giving a funk what he does with Nova, and my understanding of its effects is admittedly shaky at best- as long as he doesn't make up a fourth one, I'm okay.

As for the whole "Singing" thing . . . I lol'd.

And, Krein, I have never owned an Earthbound Immortal, though I've Dueled against their users on multiple separate occasions. They're ridiculous on all fronts, but they're always entertaining.

Back in high school, there were some kids who played, I wanted to join (little did I ,know that the game changed) but I got discouraged due to how they were treated, wp gg contemporary cultural societal views on card game players.

One day we will rise. Then it'll all be...

CARD GAME MASTAAAHHHH RACE!

I've dueled in public plenty of times with my friends. Usually in food courts or restaurants while waiting for our orders to arrive, it's a pretty good time waster. I dont see what the big deal is unless you're being a twat about it and you're shouting in a public place, since really it's no different from the group of retirees in the table across you playing blackjack.

While I've never played YGO in public, I have played MtG

In my high school there were a ton of MtG noobs, many who I taught how to play. One of our teachers played and had a day each week where after school people played games and such. Well I have a lot of casual decks and this was the perfect place to play them and still have chance to win. Whenever someone got cocky I broke out the good ol' Elf deck.

It became a bit of a legend in my school, because I literally never lost if I used it. Which is why I didn't often use it.

However one day someone was sure they could beat it. I can't remember the details, it was years ago.

But by the end of the game I had over 1000 life and attacked for 3000 damage.

What's the big deal?
In MtG you start with 20.
