Cherry Heart [Quest-based RP] Always Accepting

Mac can benefit with some more fleshing out on his personality tab, but what you have is acceptable. The main issue is his absorb magic. At first, I see it as being a shield, so one can play around it. However, as an aura it pretty much makes him effectively immune to physical attacks once it's up...which is pretty much most attacks in this setting. Things like water, wind, and earth based magic that attacks you would be rendered null by it. Even if it doesn't last forever and has limits, a 100% absorption and transformation of kinetic energy is an issue. And even if he needs to spend energy to keep it up, the fact that what it absorbs could very well be used to extend its duration in theory made it pretty ridiculous.

That ability needs a lot more clearly defined boundaries and limits, or a complete rework.

I see what you mean. As you can tell, I didn't truly think through what that power could do.

Would it be better if the concept of taking hits to strengthen himself was there, but he still took damage from it?

The Gyhanids are a tall race of people, with the average female Gyhanid being just as tall as the average human male if not taller. They have two forms that they can at any time. The first and usual form a Gyhanid takes looks to be very humanoid overall and thus is the more approachable of the two, although they still retain a wolf-like tail and ears, as well as slit pupils in their eyes and pronounced canines. The second form is more akin to a full-fledged werewolf, with a significantly larger frame and bulkier muscles; it almost appears as a growth when a Gyhanid transforms from the first form to the second.

Gyhanids reproduce in the same manner as one would expect, with the females carrying live babies inside their wombs until the time comes for them to give birth. However, it's not uncommon for a female Gyhanid to carry 5 or more babies inside the same womb, and it's in fact rare that they'll carry 3 or less. Gyhanids are also the only known race whose females go through multiple births within the same pregnancy, as they only have the strength to go through 1 or 2 births at a time, or sometimes 3 if they're carrying an especially large "litter". As such, a pregnant Gyhanid may choose to force a premature birth... if only so those that had not been born yet have room to grow in her womb a little more. The later a child is born within the litter, the higher up they are in the pecking order within that litter, with the first child being the lowest.

As a whole, Gyhanids are an aggressive tribal race that especially take pride in their hunting expertise. They are usually easy to provoke, especially over food, water or other key items that are necessary for survival. They reside most inside the Zyzymt Jungle, and find themselves at war with the Kettir a lot of the time... among other races that also reside in the Zyzymt Jungle. The Gyhanids themselves only have true beef with the Kettir; the other races just happen to make their homes in the wrong "strategic spots" at the wrong times, and are often scared off if not outright slain on the spot. However, despite all the skirmishes that the Gyhanids have made on their people, the Kettir still have dominance over most of Zyzymt Jungle... although it's safe to say that the Gyhanids in particular are constant thorns in their side. They have even massacred Kettir that had already engaged in combat with themselves or other races, and are not afraid to play dirty if it means victory for the Gyhanids as a whole.

Yes hello Kettir guy here I saw that I should take a look at this. Seems good, but it may be worth noting if the Gyhanids are particularly at war with the Ae'Kettir or Xol'Kettir tribes, or perhaps they don't discriminate between the tribes? If it's only one tribe, I'd imagine it's the Xol'Kettir since they're the ones who round up and kill people of other races to feed the death god. Honestly that could even make the Gyhanids allies to the Ae'Kettir; they want their murder-happy counterparts gone just as much as anyone else, if not more.

Will do. In the meantime, where would you suggest I place my first post?

You can post i the main guild thread with your character arriving to the guild right now, or...

Okay, I have edited Mac's power set. Mind taking a look and telling me if it is better?

Mac is accepted now.

Could I post something with Xia now plz?

Just fix what I mentioned, and she'll be fine.

Since Cowcow's quest has stagnated due to some unforeseen circumstances...

I think it might be for the best if one of you join his quest. I think you can talk to Cowcow for the details for how your character join the quest.

Cowcow, is it fine?

Third app inbound to help save Cow's quest.

[spoiler=Soul of the North]

GBllCHR.png?2
"Hungry mouths have sharp teeth."

Name: Reshifu

Age: 20

Race: Human

Sex: Female

[spoiler=Appearance]P7fm0fC.jpg
Reshifu stands at 5'7", and a lot of her 140 pounds of weight is muscle, but this weight can increase considerably. Her link with the White Boar of the North meant she was born with very pale skin, snow-white hair, and light red eyes. She is incapable of tanning, and keeps her hair tied back in a ponytail. Reshifu's clothes are very clearly from the far east, as is the rather large katana she can often be seen with. Reshifu has quite a poker face, and it's hard to change that.

Reshifu has the power to transform into a large boar, measuring 6'1" from hoof to back and weighing approximately 500 pounds. While certainly an aspect of the White Boar, Reshifu's transformation isn't quite what the Ancient looks like, as it bears several bone protrustions along the back and the legs. In addition, Reshifu's transformation appears to have a broken tusk, and an altogether more vicious, predatory look than what she should be turning into.

[spoiler=Personality]
Reshifu is quite a person. She's set a singular goal in her mind, and doesn't care how far she has to go to obtain it. Above all else, her mission is to save her homeland, but her methods can be pretty questionable sometimes. To help her in her personal quest, she seeks ever greater power so that she can someday become a powerful enough person that she alone can decide the fates of nations. Reshifu doesn't care where this power comes from either; personal strength, financial power, political sway, allies, even enemies she can manipulate are all fine by Reshifu. She's by no means weak now either, but she's not nearly content with the power she already has at her disposal.

Because of her Take Over Magic - Ancient Soul, Reshifu was given the title Soul of the North in her homeland. Being able to call forth the aspect of a god-like entity and learning that it meant her destiny was closely tied with that of the Jade Islands has over time made her a very proud, arrogant individual. Ever too confident in her own strength alone, Reshifu is somebody who shows no respect in a fight whatsoever. While she's perfectly capable of wielding a sword and using it, Reshifu would rather fight bare-handed with the sword in plain sight, showing that she doesn't take her opponent seriously enough to try her hardest in a fight. Despite not taking any foe seriously (or anything at all besides the fate of the Jade Islands and its inhabitants, actually), Reshifu can be surprisingly patient in combat, waiting for her enemy to come to her instead of rushing headfirst to get the first move. In fact, patience may well be her most redeeming quality.

While she wants to complete her mission as quickly as possible, one thing Reshifu did learn back home was that rushing and instant gratification would get her nowhere. She's not one to take shortcuts, and doesn't mind having to see things progress over a longer timeframe. She doesn't rush herself or others, looks at the situation at hand, and considers how to react accordingly each time something comes up. She's bound to look down on others, is too full of herself, and has no perception of how to respect others, but in the end, Reshifu loves her people dearly, and wants only what's best for them. No matter what she has to become in order to get it.

[spoiler=Biography]
In the Jade Islands, once every century or so, a child is born with distinct physical features matching one of the four Guardian Ancients; god-like beings that protect the Islands. This child has the power to call forth an aspect of one of the Ancients and unleash great power, and their birth often signals that the Islands are once again in danger and need a hero. Reshifu is this century's wielder of Take Over Magic - Ancient Soul, and was born with the power to summon forth an aspect of the White Boar of the North; a symbol of strength, resilience, and protecting those who need it. Reshifu, as with all children able to use Ancient Soul, was raised in the temple of her respective Ancient. Because she was linked to the White Boar of the North, Reshifu was given the title "Soul of the North", as with all her predecessors that could call forth the same Ancient, and raised in the White Boar's temple.

The ivory halls of the White Boar's temple - located at the northernmost spot in the Isles - were all she knew for a very long time. As with anyone raised there, she was trained by the temple's monks in a form of self-defense that waited for the attacker to move before unleashing powerful strikes at an exposed weakness. She was instructed in the ways of patience, discipline, respect...not all of the monks' lessons got through to her. While she was able to learn about patience, the other two eluded her greatly. Even counsel with the White Boar itself couldn't instill these virtues in Reshifu. While a very flawed guardian, she was the best they'd ahve, and the Islands couldn't wait another century with its state of decline. "She'll have to cut it," they decided.

At the age of eighteen, Reshifu took her coming of age trial where she was to subdue an aspect of the White Boar conjured from her soul; conquering oneself is an important step to conquering danger, after all. What was summoned forth was nothing like the majestic creature the temple's monks worshipped, but a twisted visage with fierce, glowing eyes. While Reshifu passed her trial, the monks warned her that her pride was limiting her power, and could endanger the Jade Islands if it got serious. She ignored this and simply demanded she be told where she was to go for her quest to begin. With her training complete, the monks reluctantly sent her on her way with some gold and a particularly large large sword traditionally used by anyone deemed Soul of the North. Her destination was the mainland of Arbolia.

Her goal here is simple: Find the means to restore the Jade Islands to the glory they had not so long ago. Reshifu's approach to it is equally simple: Become so powerful that no man or nation could possibly deny her request to send help. She spent the first couple of years getting familiar with her new surroundings in Fraxinus, and her attention was drawn to one particular place. The acclaimed and mighty guild Cherry Heart. They would be very valuable as allies, and so Reshifu plans to join their ranks and make them just that.

[spoiler=Abilities]2LtRZtN.jpg
Take Over Magic - Ancient Soul: Reshifu is able to call forth an aspect of the White Boar of the North, one of the Guardian Ancients watching over the Jade Islands. This ability can easily be used to a lesser degree to densely pack down Reshifu's muscle mass, effectively giving her immense physical strength and a pretty heavy body. Fully applying it can transform Reshifu into a 6-foot-tall boar similar (but not quite identical) to the White Boar in appearance. Aside from being difficult to maintain for an extended duration, it's been noted that Reshifu's transformation is far from perfect.

The visage of the White Boar under Reshifu's command is greatly different from what it should be, and previous records of people calling forth the aspect of this Ancient note that the boar should be much bigger than what Reshifu is producing. The cause for this is supposedly her pride; an issue the monks of the White Boar's temple were unable to deal with.

[spoiler=Odin]

Personal Information

Name: Odin

Age: Unknown

Sex: Male

Race: Human (?)

[spoiler=Appearance]Few people have seen him in recent years. He is appears to be a wizened old wizard.

[spoiler=Personality]Odin is an amiable and charismatic leader; his confidence and determination are unmatched and he shows earnest care for others. It cannot be said he values life, but living things entertain him. There are some which he can be especially interested in and will seek to befriend. Those on his good side can fully expect his aid, so long as it doesn't conflict with his interests. His vast knowledge and power to accomplish almost anything with ease make him an extremely dependable ally.

However, there are two defining traits to Odin, his whimsical nature and his bottomless greed, which can be a terrifying combination in one of the most powerful mages in existence. Much of what he does isn't planned. Odin becomes involved in any matter that interests him, regardless of consequences, and he obtains whatever he desires, not caring what methods are used. His carelessness is born of arrogance; from the depth of his being, he believes he is invincible and he can do things at his leisure. His whims never end, Odin is constantly driven to seek more power, more knowledge, more thrill. He shows a very child-like curiosity of the world and does little to hide his love of adventure.

Generally difficult to provoke, things change when Odin is desperate or backed into a corner. He becomes incredibly spiteful and takes his anger out through indiscriminate destruction. He continues to smile and act friendly, but it is easy to tell that it is facade.

[spoiler=Biography]His exact origins have been lost to history. As a member of the newly born guild Cherry Heart, he was one of the key figures in restoring peace to the world after one hundred years of chaos of the Magic Cataclysm. He accomplished countless great feats and went on many adventures with Cherry Heart until he had a falling out and went to found his own guild Yggdrasil.

[spoiler=Abilities]Odin was able to accumulate great magical knowledge and power over the course of the millenia. He can use many styles of magic, including Lost Magic.

Immense Physical Abilities

Having lived for power, Odin has honed his body to its limits and can hold his own against any warrior.

Improvised Magic Arts

Most of what Odin does is not belong to any real style of magic, he is merely manipulate mana to his will to do anything from telekinesis, elemental magic, healing, nature magic, or warding. This is only possible through Odin's great expertise and knowledge of countless different magic combined with his natural talent and the changes his body underwent during the Cataclysm. It can be said he now lives and breathes magic. However, this use of magic lacks the power of proper magic styles that he has mastered as it can only utilise 10% of his potential.

Lost Magic - Gungnir: Fatal Declaration of the Unswaying Gods

An ancient magic inscribed in runes upon an ash spear. Creates an unblockable spear of light that always strikes its target by warping through space. When the actual ash spear itself is thrown and its powers channeled, any weaknesses of the technique are nulled and it warps the target out of existence along with the spear itself. This is Odin's primary offensive magic.

Lost Magic - Sleipnir: The Eight Trampling Winds

An extremely powerful wind magic attained through an arcane ritual. A whirlwind gathers at the caster's feet and every step unleashes four powerful tornados outwards. The wind has the magical properties to defend against magical projectiles. Also grants incredible flight and hover speed. This is Odin's main defensive and movement magic.

Lost Magic - Geri and Freki: Havoc of the Dogs of War

A magic said to be incomplete. Earned by overcoming a test of combat against two monstrous wolves and taming them. Creates two phantasmal fanged mouths that can short warp and will try to eat anything around the owner. Used both offensively and defensively.

Excluding this batch of posts, my posts will now follow a new rule:

If I am GMing a quest, and a participant does not post in 3 days, I will continue the story. The missing participants will either be disregarded, or be at disadvantage for lack of coordination.

Of course, leeway will be given if an absence is explained.

[spoiler=Amatlapaliztac]

m3yjgA6.png

"Emahs tsetaerg s'roirraw a si kcab eht no racs a."

Personal Information

Name: Amatlapaliztac

Age: 16

Gender: Male

Race: Human (Tonalli)

[spoiler=Appearance]A brown-skinned and white-haired man with war paint and scars decorating his warrior's body. Standing at 224 cm (7'4") and with a hawk-like gaze, Amatlapaliztac is extremely imposing, even to members of his own tribe. Many would be very surprised to know his age. His greatest shame is the brutal wound on his back that even now will sometimes split open and oozes blood and pus because of the cursed venom it carries.

DFFZlS6.png

[spoiler=Personality]Despite his appearance, Amatlapaliztac is not as strong-willed as he'd hope. He frequently agonizes about his lack of courage and ability for a man of the Tonalli. As a chosen one born once every 300 years in his tribe, he is under huge pressures to become a paragon of warriors. There is no wonder he is always so grim and serious. Because of such, he has little experience socializing or making friends outside of bonds forged from fighting together.

Tonalli culture values the power to bend the world to one's will and family. Power is both a source of pride and a means to protect one's family, whilst family is a loose term in the Tonalli tongue, and refers to any group sworn together, whether of blood or otherwise. For anyone who lacks power, death is only expected and the only mercy is a swift, painless end. Entertainment other than the hunting of worthy prey are secondary and are regarded with varying opinions, from lightly enjoyable by the more liberal-minded to a dangerously distracting to many of the jaded warriors. These morals may seem cruel and single-minded but are necessary in the western lands.

Because he is yet young, Amatlapaliztac is still very impressionable despite his strong sense of duty to his tribe. Free of the constraints of his society, he is now able to get exposed to new ways of thinking and enjoy life differently. However, he is experiencing great culture shock at these new lands. It will only prove difficult for him from now on as he doesn't know the language and has a horrendous sense of direction.

[spoiler=Biography]Amatlapaliztac and his twin sister, Coszcatl, were both born as True Scions of Quetzalcoatl, and unprecedented event in the history of the Tonalli tribe. In fact, they were triplets but the third infant died soon after. This blessing meant that they should have tremendous vitality and physical ability as well talent for the tribe's shamanistic magic. It turns out, they had regeneration, but the other talents were split; Amatlapaliztac received great strength while Coszcatl received incredible speed and both of them had affinity for magic, but nothing like the extraordinary power of legend. Coszcatl quickly learned how to take advantage of her abilities and become respected as a huntress even from the age of nine, but it was more difficult for Amatlapaliztac.

Amatlapaliztac lived under constant pressure and in the shadow of his twin. Nevertheless, he continued to strive, seek strength, and hone his abilities. Just as he was starting to feel confident, he encountered the Teccoatl, also known as a Venom Dragon. He realized how weak he was in the face of it and turned tail to run which then he was slashed in the back by one of its claws. His sister picked him up and ran, her godly speed allowing her to carry her brother and throw the dragon off their track.

The great healing ability granted to him by his blood managed to prevent his death, but the venom is still in his body and one of the tribe's healers died trying to extract it. Realizing the shame of his actions, Amatlapaliztac was too horrified to face anyone and left in a self-imposed exile. The journey of finding oneself is a tradition of the Tonalli, but one does not usually take it until one is twenty. His canoe eventually reached the Sea of Storms and he was caught in a horrible tempest. He managed to survive somehow and landed in Prunus.

[spoiler=Powers]His natural powers as a True Scion has been significantly diminished by the poison afflicting him. He does not fully realize this, but the problem with his skill as a hunter and a warrior is his lack of grace and teamwork ability. His strength is his greatest source of pride so he has relied on it excessively.

Regeneration: With the atavistic magical blood of the Feathered Serpent flowing in him, Amatlapaliztac is capable of recovering from any illness and wounds begin healing immediately. Most life-threatening wounds heal in a minute where he at his full strength. However, the poison has greatly reduced this effect, such that his healing is only slightly faster than normal. An astute nature mage would realize that he is actually absorbing life force from his surroundings and he is constantly doing so to repress the venom.

King of the Forest: All animals will fear and/or respect him to a certain extent. This has not changed.

Immense Strength: Once capable of uprooting giant trees and swinging them around. Now, he is still much stronger than the average man, but nothing extraordinary.

Beast's Intuition: He has great intuition to sense danger and powerful beings as well as magic.

Tracking: As a hunter of the Tonalli tribe, he is a great tracker with acute senses.

Life Magic: He is capable of imbuing things with life; either to heal living beings or to temporary give inanimate objects semblances of life, similar to the Life Giver ability of Gold Experience. This power can also be used to give himself animal traits, like Take Over.

Tonalli Weapons Mastery: As a Tonalli hunter, Amatlapaliztac is quite skilled in the use of the Tonalli maquahuitl (the sword-like weapon) and the sling. He is also capable of wielding a bow and an atlatl but those got washed away in the storm.
