Continuous Spell

Monsters your opponent controls cannot be destroyed by battle, also reduce any battle damage your opponent would take to 0. At the end of the Battle Phase: Inflict damage to your opponent equal to the battle damage that was reduced to 0 this turn by this card's effect.

 

Okay.... so, this is strange. Discuss?

I mean... this just turns battle damage to effect damage.  First glance: It doesn't look super great, but after a quick look up on ygopro, there are some amusing things this can combo with.

Personally, it still doesn't look great, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much it could really do.  There're other cards this could combo with but those feel even less viable.

 

Obvious downside: you could do this then your opponent MST negates all the damage you prepped.

You can use this to after you activate Ojama trio or swarmed your opponent with tokens via Black Garden for field maintaining cloggage purposes while still being able to attack if needed... Probably with things that can either attack directly or have piercing battle damage though.

i feel like using this with stuff that reduces its own damage to 0 wouldnt work? because it only counts what its reducing?

It doesn't reduce effect damage to 0... That is what you are missing. It basically trades off battle damage you have done for an equal delayed effect damage at the end of the Battle Phase. That is what I am getting out of it.

i never said anything about effect damage?

it literally says battle damage you would have inflicted is 0, and the damage reduced BY ITS EFFECT is done at the end of the battle phase

so it wouldnt work with stuff like miracle lotus because the damage youd inflict with the monster is ALREADY 0, so it cant be reduced to 0 by THIS CARDS effect

The only reason this worked the way it did was because the Amazoness Continuous Trap had the effect to reduce Battle Damage to 0. This card's effect caused 0 Battle Damage, so the Amazoness Trap didn't interfere.

 

It's a weird, weird card, but it actually is kind of amusing, because it has practical purposes. You can swing at a really weak, now indestructible monster with a Field of monsters. Whereas without this card, you might only be able to smack one weak monster and be unable to overpower a second, stronger one.

That's an interesting use for it, actually. You manage to get a weak monster to stick on their field and you can just wail on it.

It wouldn't work the way you guys are thinking. If a monster or effect would make it so the opponent took no damage, then there would be nothing for this card to reduce. It's terrible and gimmicky.

you know i should just delete my posts and c/p this into them because this is worded way better

 

i think this would only work on activated effects that reduce damage to 0, and maybe not even that. i do like evilfusion's idea with it, but otherwise, it's just not good.

Sadly, effect damages isn't counted

 

I feel like comboing this card with a card that reduces the ATK of 1 opponent monster to 0, like Zero Force or Gorgonic Guardian, then attack that monster repeatly with multiple attacking cards or ones with insanely huge ATK, since it cannot be destroyed by battle, afterwards your Opponent would take huge damage

Quite interesting
