Silent Sword

[Target 1 "Silent Swordsman" monster you control, it gains 1500 ATK and DEF, and is unaffected by your opponent's card effects until the end of this turn.  This card's effect cannot be negated.  You can banish this card from your Graveyard: Add 1 "Silent Swordsman" monster from your Deck to your hand.]

This card is bananas.  It's literally so good.  The fact that it's not OPT and the boost is permanent makes it so easy to have board control.  I was able to have a Silent Swordsman with 7500 ATK and basically just play a beat-down game with backrow (Strike, Magic Drain, Lance) and just win.

I think this Deck is going to have some serious potential.

The best part about this card is that you can not only activate both effects, but it can't be negated.

Well only the effect can't be negated. The card's activation still can be. This is so it still works while LV7 is on the field.

What would be fun would be some positive cost + negative effect spells.

I think most spells have heavier costs than effects.

I feel like you'd probably be okay with just getting Level 5 out, since it can just be tribute summoned.

There are cards like these for the Silent Magicians, too, although they're probably worse.

It's supposedly part of the "Signature Move" series, which seems to be a common series among DM Decks and generation mascots. Wondering if Odd-Eyes will get one after all the support it already has.

What do you mean?

I'd made a few custom cards with that concept. At the cost of oversimplifying it in the extreme, it'd be something like:

Spell

Gain 1000 LP; all monsters you control lose 300 ATK and DEF.

Positive cost, negative effect.

How would that help in relation to this card?

It doesn't do anything for Silent Sword, but Silent Swordsman.

Taking my card as an example, if LV7 was on the field, you'd still gain the 1000 LP, but the stat-decreasing effect wouldn't happen.

I'm just saying in playtesting, this is a card I always love to see.  The fact that you can play multiple copies in one turn AND get a search off it is just nuts.  It's a seriously good card for a Deck that obviously isn't great, but definitely has potential.

I'm playing a monster line-up like this:

3x Silent Swordsman

2x Silent Swordsman LV7

2x Silent Swordsman LV5

3x Silent Swordsman Lv3

3x Marmiting Captain

Throw in whatever else you like.  Combined with Silent Sword and Level Up! which really just helps to accelerate your plays, it's extremely effective.  It CAN brick a bit, but for the most part Marmiting Captain helps with that issue by allowing you a mulligan and being fodder for the Swordsman.  I really like it.

Could I get a Decklist of that? I want to test this out!

3 Silent Swordsman

3 LV3

2 LV5

2 LV7

3 Marmiting Captain

2 Honest

1 Thunder King Rai-Oh

3 Silent Sword

3 Level Up!

1 Reinforcements of the Army

2 Twin Twisters

1 Raigeki

3 Forbidden Lance

1 Upstart Goblin

1 One Day of Peace

2 Solemn Strike

2 Magic Drain

1 Jar of Avarice

1 Bottomless Trap Hole

1 Torrential Tribute

1 Solemn Warning

--

It's not perfect but in testing I've only lost once. I was able to easily play around most boards. I don't LOVE three Level Up!, but it's an amazing open and I can shuffle it back in with Marmiting so it's a good utility option.

Magic Drain is just a good meta option right now imo that can net you pluses off Twin Twister.

Lance I feel is needed because you're playing such a control game that it's worth it. Plus with Honest and the ability to negate Spells you've got things pretty effectively controlled.

Big fan of the deck.

Thank you! Can't wait to test out this Deck and see the card in action!

I'd love to see Konami do more of these cards that are essentially proxies for an effect they can't do.

A card that significantly supports an older card that didn't bear said effect?

This card can provide a huge boost for "Silent Swordsman" with little or no effort, plus there is no limit to the stackable amount of cards, which is great for overwhelming your Opponent, making it possible for a wasteful 4500 boost, but perfect for OTK....., plus it's effect cannot be neagted which is great against some disturbing cards which negates the effect of equip spell cards....

Time for the silent to shine?
