Alternative Mask Change

Quick-Play Spell Card

Banish 1 "HERO" monster from your Deck; Special Summon 1 "Masked HERO" monster from your Extra Deck with the same Attribute as the "HERO" monster banished by this card's effect. (This Special Summon is treated as a Special Summon with "Mask Change".) You cannot Special Summon monsters the turn you activate this effect, except Fusion Monsters. You can only activate 1 "Alternative Mask Change" per turn.

So an E-Tele that summons Dark Law and is an e-call or is a better Harpie's feather duster ? That is terrible design, I do understand that you want to put heros back in the spotlight, however taking spellbook of judgement as an example for support asks for problems, also the restriction is basicly nonexistent, if you want a fitting restriction ... prevent setting cards during that turn and limit it to the controlling players turn, on top of its restriction.

Hmm...this does seem like a good way to make an Xyz Pathway accepable for HERO decks. Especially could make Destiny and Evil HEROs their own powerhouses again. Use this, mill Malicious, summon a Lev 6 Masked HERO, use Malicious to summon another, go into any Rank 6 monster of choice. So, essentially a 1 card Rank 6-8 makin' machine.

Wondefully great to me, but I'm hella sure Sakura'd have a cardiac seein something this busted in Advanced.

So here's my suggestion. Keep everything here the way it is. But make it so that the card pops out a Masked HERO whose Level is 1 or 2 above the Level of the HERO you mill, and/or let it banish that sucker from Deck or field. That way, you can still hit all the Levels of Masked HERO y'want, but it aint too busted for the new avenue it opens. And Malicious' mill/banish can bring the pain at a later time, for a dedicated build.

My two cents.

Still gets a 7/10 from me though, this is some good stuff. Carry on, RQ.

Sure, you could set up monsters like Dark Law and Acid faster. However, as stated before, it shouldn't outclass Mask Change, too. I think a better restriction would be one that prevents you from Special Summoning anything that same turn, allowing you to keep the effect, but keeping you from making any additional plays at the same time. Especially when you could be sending Elemental HERO - Shadow Mist, and adding a HERO monster in the same play. But take that for what you will.

(I don't play HEROs as much anymore, or rather I don't have a viable outlet to test them on, outside of the YGOPro AI, which misplays a lot.)

Even if the effect is negated, what's to stop you from using this turn 1 (or really any time) to dump Shadow Mist into the Graveyard, make Dark Law and then search another HERO off of her (or Malicious to SS more stuff in D-HEROs)? Yeah, Law gets negated but it'll return to normal at the end of the turn, then start banishing stuff.

General gripe with this card is basically the above "drop Shadow Mist for Law, then search" thing; but yeah like Sceptyr mentioned, should probably banish the monster instead of sending it to the Graveyard. We don't want to lessen the appeal of this card, because this does have its uses for HEROs when needed, but it shouldn't be strictly better than the original Mask Change (even with the negation).

With that in mind, this is not to imply that Dark Law is the only Masked HERO that even gets summoned in HEROs (albeit he is summoned very often); most of the Level 8s get used (bar Kamikaze b/c no viable WIND HERO). Can't say much about the 6s b/c Vapor and Goka are meh, and Blast is unused until we get Stratos back. Acid/Blast don't get much from being summoned (well, former doesn't get to blow out S/T); others have enough power to do what they need for a turn.

[i technically wrote this a little earlier, but didn't have time to post this]
