Favorite Joker?

I believe this is most every actor, correct me if I've missed anyone important. Though I've intentionally left out Steve Blum's portrayal of him in LEGO Batman since that game doesn't actually have any dialogue. I've listed each actor with their first/most major role as the Joker. There's a lot of images so I'm putting it in spoilers for the sake of space.

Easily easily easily Mark Hamill. Childhood memories plus just being perfect in the role.

I definitely voted for Mark Hamill as well. It helps that he was the first one I was familiar with, but I just find his voice so iconic and so perfect for the Joker. Heath Ledger was also a fantastic Joker, but Dark Knight Joker a very different kind of Joker so I didn't like it quite as much. I did really enjoy John DiMaggio's portrayal in Under the Red Hood, too.

 

Those three are probably my top, but Mark Hamill is at the top of the top.

Last night as I was trying to go to sleep I was, for some reason, thinking about how Mark Hamill is THE voice of the Joker. But even though that is the case, I just couldn't see him doing the lines for Heath Ledger's Joker and it being as good. I think thats pretty cool that that is the case. Curious how well he would do for the other Jokers.

Mark Hamill is the best Joker. Period. It's as iconic as Luke Skywalker, and you could tell he loved the role. His Joker laugh was absolutely perfect.

 

Also, the best Joker literally has Arkham in his name. mARK HAMill.

I seriously want to know what prompted a man as good-looking at Cesar Romero to decide he wanted to be the Joker.

For Jared's Joker, I honestly did not like it. Not because he's a bad actor, but I was having a hard time seeing Joker. I thought he was way too romantic in that movie.

I like all of the Joker actors listed (I haven't seen Jared Leto or Cesar Romero, though), but Mark Hamill is easily my favorite and the most iconic out of every attempt at portraying The Joker. I enjoyed Heath Ledger's and John DiMaggio's performances a lot, too, but Michael Emerson's performance is awesome as well, and the Jeff Bennett and Kevin Michael Richardson performances seem to generally disliked and very underrated. I really haven't heard of or seen a Joker that I didn't like. He's just such a complex character and seeing all of the different spins different actors put on the character is great.

Hammil is objectively correct, but tbh Spiner was criminally underrated for his role in YJ. That said, it is likely more a case of him being overshadowed by just how minor his role was in such a well-received show.

 

As for live action, I am quite fond of the takes both Ledger and Leto had, since seeing variations on a character is always fun from an analysis perspective, but Jack Nicholson is just so... Joker. No other way to put it, really.

Went to YouTube for a quick clip of John DiMaggio's Joker because I couldn't quite remember how it went because it's really hard not to just hear Bender or Jake the Dog, (

) and it is really good. Gonna have to put him as my second favorite behind Mark Hamill, Heath Ledger goes in the 3rd spot for me.

John DiMaggio actually made a great Joker. I would've loved to see him do some more movies.

But Mark Hamill is the quintessential Joker; his voice is the one I hear every time I read Joker's dialogue in comics. There are several amazing portrayals of the character, but his was definitive.

Hmm...so many good performances. In the end, I'll go with Heath Ledger. Yeah; I haven't watched enough of the animated series.
