Guest BGMCANN0N
Aero-Oceanic Plane[Field Spell] (This card's name is always treated as "Umi".)Fish, Sea-Serpent, and Aqua-Type monsters gain 400 ATK. While at least 1 of your banished monsters is a Fish, Sea-Serpent, or Aqua-Type monster, any battle damage you take is halved. Once per turn, if a banished monster(s) returns to the field: You can Special Summon 1 Level 3 or lower Fish, Sea-Serpent, or Aqua-Type monster from your Deck. [spoiler=Design Notes] So this is intentionally support Generation Fish which is basically an unnamed archetype (as funny as that sounds its true) of Fish, Sea Serpent, and Aqua monsters who banish themselves after interacting with opponent's life points and cards via battle or card effect only to come back next Standby Phase. It is really a fun little novelty that never really got much attention or support. The biggest hole in the archetype I see is that it has a very delayed win condition of attempting to chip away your opponent's resources. And that delay usually comes back to bite it. While they do maintain their presence by basically hitting and running. Your opponent is more likely to do more damage to you than you can to them due to how weak they are... So I thought it would be good for the archetype to have something lessen the blows you take from battle while you hit and run (yet stay true to their play style), and have an additional way to swarm when they come back to the field. OpticalGalaxyStar
Huh. This actually seems really cool. I think it's balanced enough that it isn't OP (via that once per turn limit) but it's also something that I would definitely look into using. The flavor text looks clean as well, no complaints here. ;D My score: 9/
Flash Flyer - Sakura
Well, Banisharks/Generation Fish have a new toy to help them Rank 3 better and cut down on damage, so that's pretty helpful in the long run. I suppose you could also chain this against Omega if you end up dealing with them (remind me if that's still prevalent as a Synch8 choice nowadays; think it is), but yeah. Most of the time, you're probably going to use Levair or something. Don't think it'll be enough to push them up to competitive status (well, I wouldn't really blame them for needing more; the bar is set a lot higher now), but it's a start. The Nyx Avatar
Oh, so another card that can be treated as Umi? ATK increase is cute. And nice; an effect that Generation Fish (a Deck that relies on banishing Fish, Aqua and Sea Serpent-Type monsters to trigger effects and for cheap removal) Deck can benefit from. Especially since their ATK isn't always the greatest. And I guess for the last effect you could use a card like Leviair the Sea Dragon to return to rhe field and then set up another. It's an okay card. Not exactly what Generation Fish needs, but a step in the right direction.

If you're referring to PSY-Framelord Omega, he's pretty much a staple one-of in nearly any Deck that Syncs to 8, yes. I probably would prefer A Legendary Ocean, but that's mostly because I had the misprint Neo Daedalus and thought for the longest time I could Normal Summon him so it was my favorite Field Spell. If you could add some kind of effect about returning Banished Fish/SS/Aqua Monsters to the Deck or Field, you could also use this with Atlantean/Mermails or Skull Lair. Sleepy
Keep in mind that A Legendary Ocean doesn't really support many of the members of the pseudo-archetype being supported here, which are WIND monsters despite being Fish, Sea Serpent, and Aqua-Type monsters. - - - - - - OT: Love the card's idea. It boosts a ATK a little bit better, and helps you survive longer with the natural minus in advantage the deck temporarily gives each turn. A Ghostrick-like defensive Field is a good step for them. It might not be enough to get into the meta scene, but it is at a very pleasant level of grinding off plays that I wish more decks would be at. It also gives them much needed searching power. One of the things I like most about the card is that even though it clearly was made with a certain deck in mind, it is not outright an archetype exclusive card and has a tiny big of experimenting potential. This thread also gave me the idea that maybe I could try mixing the deck with something like Gorz to cover its bases... It lacks synergy so I might make a defensive version of Gorz that is WATER, to some effect. Maybe one that instead of a Token it brings out a banished Generation Fish/Banishark with power proportional to the damage received....
Darj
Yeah, the card looks really solid. I like how the summoning effect works with any banished monster that returns to the field so you can splash cards like Wind-Up Rabbit, Timebreaker Magician, PSYframe Synchros, Evilswarm Thunderbird, etc. the former 2 being Level3 for Rank3 plays. You can also be pro and Summon Level2 Aquas instead to set up a Toadally Awesome play :v
Darj
Double posting but only to highlight the additional comment: I was tempted to suggest giving it a searching effect akin to Tenki, Oracle of Zefra, etc. but since it already searches monsters with the second effect, it may be an overkill. Still, Generation Fish would appreciate a search to get their plays started: When this card is activated: You can add 1 Level 3 WIND Fish, Sea Serpent or Aqua-Type monster from your Deck to your hand. Plus of course a hard OPT clause on the effect, if not all of the effects. (If only the Mist Valley Field Spells had something like that :v) By the way, I find amusing how the new Level5 Fusion Tuner can give them access to PSYFrame Omega.
