Gouki The Great Ogre

Recommended Posts

Interesting, already playing with the idea of them not having DEF, so this isn't affected by it (not that the other Gouki are anyway, since they have 0 DEF). Good Link Markers, good ATK. They aren't making the Archetypes as powerful as ones we got when Pendulums were introduced it seems, so that's nice.

Konami: Man, the previous huge sidekick of the main character had a great run with a deck focused to entirely defense, so let's make a character who's also a giant and focuses on nothing but offense!
I do love this card, and I can't wait to see more of the Goukis. EARTH/Warrior is a sadly undersupported combination, and needs a bit more love.

I've gotta figure out how to mix SHS and Gouki now (or, at least when we get more Goukis).

Hilariously, the decks don't conflict with each other (in terms of their playstyle), but SHS does tend to be a bit xenophobic in regards to their spamming capabilities, so...

Pendulums were awful when they were introduced tho

Timegazer and Stargazer, D/D Proud Ogre and Chevalier, early Performapals, and arguably even the OG Odd-Eyes Pendy all sucked

I'm talking about Shaddoll, Tellarknight and Yang Zing actually, but I actually hadn't noticed that these were suppose to be the anime guy's cards, which means that these are probably not suppose to be the main Archetypes for the set, meaning that we will probably have something powerful in store for us.

Assuming Trickster and Gouki as the anime archetypes, they're already far better (and more coherent!) than how Gon and Yuzu started, so there's that already.

The new Link archetypes are looking good. This Gouki here is solid, plus the 2 revealed Goukis float when sent to the grave so you will be breaking even from Link Summoning this guy.

And kinda off-topic, but Tricksters are starting strong too with 2 searchers, while their Link 2 is just as generous as Gouki Great Ogre with its markers.

If these Goukis and Tricksters are the archetypes of the main character's sidekicks, then it's a damn good start already.
