Jester Gambit (We All Point Up Here)

DARK/Spellcaster-Type Link Effect Monster/Link-1/0 ATK

Lore: 1 Level 2 or lower Spellcaster monster

(Quick Effect): You can Tribute this card; apply these effects and resolve them in sequence, depending on the number of face-up cards in the Spell & Trap Zones.
• 2+: Draw 1 card and reveal it, and if it is a Spellcaster monster, draw 1 more card.
• 4+: The ATK of the monster(s) on the field with the highest ATK becomes 400.
• 6+: Inflict 600 damage to both players for each face-up Spell/Trap on the field.
So, Lazarr. Featured in 5D's and Arc-V, had a Jester Deck mainly known for helping fuel Rank-1 Decks the world over when people tired of the Kuribohs. Seemed to actually be fleshed out in the 2nd and 3rd sub season of 5Ds....and that's mostly it.
Until this. It allows you to turn those measly Spellcasters of yours into a monster that's basically.....Lucky Piper on steroids. But you've gotta control backrow, and most Spellcaster Decks (outside of the Altergeists, but still) don't usually tend to leave backrow hanging.
First effect's a super-Piper trigger, the second Linkuribohs monsters down to size permanently, and the last one hits both players for a whopping 3600+ points of damage. Pick your poison, folks, because the Gambit will do it for you if you're not able to.
Till the next card, reviews, revelry, you (and Pennywise) know the drill.
BD'S, signing off.

If you keep making cards I like, how can I give any feedback??

Simple. Positive feedback. Talk about what you like about the card. Perhaps some potential interactions. For example:

I like how it pays tribute to a rather forgotten Deck or archetype from the 5D's age. Especially because there's about a total of two jester monsters from that character that actually saw release. Though it plays more like Lucky Piper. I think you could bring down the ATK change to 0. I don't think they need to be face-up, since a card like Jester Lord doesn't need them face-up. Regardless, it's okay. Feels more at home with Level 1 chaos.

Why do I have this sudden urge to build a clown deck now?.....

To be fair, I hate clowns but this card just makes me want to create a deck that is nothing but pure nightmare fuel.

Also, if I opt to not use the effect, Crush Card is always a nice option. To make things worse, if I link away a Light attribute for it and use the effect, I can summon Chaos Emperor Dragon and completely wipe the field for more damage after applying any of these effects. This card is a very nice Chaos Engine fueled by nightmares. I love it.

@@The Nyx Avatar you're right lol. I was being a little tongue-in-cheek with them, but I should include some positive feedback as well.

I would say I like that

  • it brings back an older deck strategy (level 1 monsters with Xyz monsters as a base).
  • it's interactive yet not reactive with your opponent.
  • gives card advantage in a strategic way

Now that I've taken a 2nd look at it, however, I do feel like there are some weak points...

  • I actually think it should have ATK points to give it a little utility on the field, in case it's effect might get negated and/or you can't link climb immediately.
  • the 2nd effect doesn't really do that much. at least reduce the ATK to 0 for the turn. personally I'd just replace it with an effect that protects your own monsters, instead of a debuff for your opponent
  • I'm curious about your thoughts on the 3rd effect, in terms of what kind of deck you'd put it in. the old Rank 1 deck I remember being fun focused on Number 13 and Number 31 (Cain and Abel/Embodiment of Crime/Punishment respectively). Instead of dealing burn damage, maybe give it an effect that could help that existing strategy be somewhat viable again (unless you want to make more cards with this train of thought, which would be cool).

  • 4 weeks later...

Considering that this can be Summoned using Spellbook Magician of Prophecy (which gives you a +1 in of itself when Normal Summoned or flipped), it seems too easy to get another +1 off of one single card (especially if you search Spellbook of Life and use it to revive a monster and simultaneously fulfill half of the drawing requirement). The fact that this is a Quick Effect means that you (or your opponent) can have one face-up Spell/Trap card, activate another one, and then chain this effect to the activation of the second card, and then you would get the draw effect even if the second card wasn't a Continuous Spell/Trap or Equip Spell. This is way too powerful for a Rank 1.

If you wanted to keep a theme of '2, 4, 6', I would suggest just making both players draw 1 card each and nothing more.
