March 2013 Format Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Dragoons won't be hit. They're still pushing Mermails in the TCG. Remember Inzektors and how REDU kept them from getting hit for a format?

If they get a hit, it'll be a silly little smack on the wrist, like Sphere to 2.

Well if you think about it, Inzektors were only out for less than a month before that banlist. Atlanteans have had over half a format.

So I wouldn't necessarily use them as the comparison.

There's no reason for TGU to be hit, looking at the meta. Rabbit's a rogue deck, doesn't warrant a hit. Snoww to 1 seems unrealistic when they're 5th place. Card Destruction is all but impossible for the same reason. Stratos to 0, while the best choice, is also unlikely due to being 4th.

They just made the Chaos Dragon Tengu things. BLS going is unlikely. DAD won't go because neither of the decks its in are considered T1.

Hieratics, and all that other stuff, moving up doesn't make sense because September is testing format.

TGU and BLS were both just reprinted, which is something Konami has done a surprisingly many times before hitting those same cards. So that's where that reasoning is coming from.

Snoww probably won't go to 1, 2 seems more likely, or the same to Grapha. 5 is just within the limit of what I think could get hit.

You're probably right about DAD just because how Konami will be viewing Verz.

And they've done testing things in March before. From last March: E-Tele, Level Limit, Lumina, Marshmallon, Shien's Smoke Signal, Torrential. So doing testing stuff shouldn't be counted out.

Shock Ruler and Aqua Mirror best stay where they are. I don't want to junk my Gishki Gygas Beatdown. Plus Shock Ruler is my favorite Number.

Wait, what FTK with Augus?

Agreed. There isn't one to the best of my knowledge.

EDIT- Dang Ninjas. That can be solved by banning One Day of Peace.

And how long have Merlanteans had in the TCG? 2~ months.

TGU's done nothing to GET a hit. BLS was just given more Chaos Fuel to use it with. I doubt they'd get hit, and they're reprinted for cash reasons more than banning.

Snoww to 2 is what I'd expect.

DAD won't go on because Inzektors and Evilswarm are both off the map, to OCG Konami.

And they tested some, but they traditionally use it with September, and March is generally shit.

Three actually. 4 come March 1st. Inzektors were released in early February iirc. They didn't even have a month.

They don't always need to have done something to get hit to get hit. Konami will move power cards on and off the board once in a while.

I expect at least one or two of the testing changes to happen.

To be fair Monkey, I agree that they should be hit.

But its just not how Konami operates. They want to give every deck a chance for maximum power before violently taking it all away.

Remember the nightmare that was the March 2012 Banlist? Yeah, something like that.

Except this one has!:

Fish that run over you with Sharks and Sea Serpents

Fish that make you deck out akin to Empty Jar

BEARS! that think they're T.G.

A searchable win condition that can +X and get you a boss monster/more searches FOR FREE. It's okay because it's MAGICAL

AND MORE TO COME!

As a reminder for everyone:

Earliest reliable rumor/hearsay would be the 10th~14th. Pics should be the 17th~18th. Ban List news HAS to coincide with Judgment of the Light and Starter Deck 2013 news.

So don't post stuff before then about THIS IS THE REAL/POTENTIAL LIST.

I don't mind playing againts a lot of decks to be honest (I even enjoy some, like Madolches and Psychics for example), I just don't like the bullshit moves most of them are capable of:

Mermails:

- Megalo drop for Inzektor-esque field nuke

- Megalo + diva for 8000 exactly

- Moulinglacia at the end of big combos

Darkworlds:

- Grapha, I hate this card with a burning passion

- Reckless Greed @3 (should be semi'd ffs) not mattering thanks to Gates

- DDV / Dragged Down to see my hand followed up with a Mind Crush for potential +2's (DDV should join its brother CCV)

- Card Destruction's mass advantage

Dino-Rabbit:

- Leviair / TGU. One Laggia or Dolkka is okay, its when they start getting pumped out 3 turns in a row is silly

- Macro + Laggia + Judgement (not broken, I just don't like this)

- Dolkka detaching only one material to negate

Wind-Ups:

- Rabbit stalling with Rat or building up OTK pieces with Factory

- Magician + Shark to win every game

- Avarice, when you think its over, it just keeps coming.

- Shock Master to auto win against specific decks

Agents:

- Kristya summon usually means a game-loss

- Honest stealing games

- Kirstya + Honest looping. Oh god

Gadgets:

- Limiter Removal ending duels

- Geargiarmor flip-summon into Karakuri onslaught

- Ultimate Offering + Gadget

HEROs:

- Topdecking 3200 Shinings

- Bubbleman Spam into Shock Master / Excalibur / Armor Ninja

Inzektors:

- DAD for free wins

- Inconsistent Dragonfly + Hornet sacks

Prophecy:

- Divine Judgment of the Spellbooks isn't even out yet and I hate it already

Firefists:

- Bear is too easy to search

Firekings:

- Assault of the Fire Kings into Garunix is way too easy

- Garunix is like a FIRE Grapha

- Rekindling for game

Evilswarms:

- Thunderbird the immortal 1950 beater

- Kerykeion for instant Ophion after Ophion after Ophion

Six Samurai:

- Shi-En / Naturia Beast openings are way to often

- Gateway for game / infinite loops

Other shit:

- Safe Zone + White Dragon Ninja

- Gaia Dragoon's existence

- Village + Skill Drain + Breaker / Crusader

- Mist Valley locks

- Gustav Max's 2000 Burn

- Royal Tribute stealing games

- Infernity looping

- 3 Judgment Dragon

- Shooting Quasar Dragon

- Exodia / Burn / Final Coundown / FTKs

- Herald of Perfection

Staples:

- Game Stealing BLS's

- Monster Reborn sacks (usually for BLS)

- Starlight Road's free Stardust

- Setting one backrow which instantly gets MST'd

- Gorz's Token

Here is a card I think a Semi-Limit has been long overdue.

At three this card fuels unfair decks like: Exodia, Chain Burn, Final Countdown, and especially Darkworlds.

A sensible hit would hurt the consistency to these decks which while not tearing up the meta, would definitely help push the game in the right direction. That is, one with more player interaction (even though its pretty much gone the complete 180).

It wouldn't be a massive hit to these decks like Card Destruction, One Day of Peace, and other various choices would be, so there could be room for other serious choices to fill up the spots that matter on the Banlist (Reborn to 0 please).

"setting one backrow that gets hit by mst" is the stupidest gripe ive ever heard.

especially in comparison to other, legitimate issues with the game.

mst is absolutely not a problem, and in fact, considering that since the last time mst was on the list there are MORE backrow shenanigans, its gonna stay exactly where it is.

The last time MST was on the list, Heavy was banned and we had Trunade instead.

And we didn't have Night Beam.

Too much backrow is a problem, assuredly, but having whatever you have just get MST'd doesn't need to be a thing really. There's gotta be a balance that we can reach by moving MST around.
