Anime vs. Cartoons vs. Live Action

I watch anime a lot more than I see other cartoons and live action shows, but it's just a preference. Entertainment for people are either aligned either of these 3 mediums, but either have their own styles in which they can portray a story and characters, whether it be for creative or comical purposes. And thus people people are attracted to one or some of those things, and it cannot be argued that one is better than the other.

Personally my preference would be anime. It combines some emotional drama, creativity, humor, and action that can be drawn from live action and cartoons that can be taken advantage of.

I prefer anime to live action, due to the fact that there's a lot of things anime can do that live action can't (at least, not without costing a lot more), and it can have much more outrageous premises for its shows. I'm also a huge fan of the diverse and unique art styles that anime have, and for some the culture is fascinating. Cartoons are nice, but they're on the bottom of my list of the three, because most of them are too childish for me nowadays (some exceptions being things like Adventure Time or My Little Pony, where I can get past it, or shows like The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra that aren't childish).

*Clears throat*

Anime and cartoons are the same things. Say all you want about them being different, anime is just Japanese for animation, and that's all people say cartoons are. They're the same thing.

What you mean is Japanese Animation and Western Animation.

...

ANYWAY. The best thing I have ever watched in my entire life was Western Animation, Avatar the Last Airbender. There have been a few things of Anime that I like, but nothing comes close to Avatar, not even Brotherhood. I don't like Live Action TV.

We need both animation and live action as they're vastly different forms of art.  In fact, they're barely related.  The fact that both are viewed on a screen is irrelevant.  Live action has roots based in theater, where cartoons are based partially in traditional art.

Anyway, I'm not sure I prefer one over the other.

It does matter, though. Being from Japan is just a technicality, but it still matters.

Anyways, does anyone know if there are any good live action adaptions of anime or cartoons? The only sort of things I have to go by are Dragonball Evolution, and that live action continuation of Code Lyoko.

Anime > cartoons = Live action

I grew up watching the latter two, but I came to light with anime after realizing just how amazing it can be. As for today: cartoons are leaning towards the younger demographic, and live action is trying to hard. It lost the edge that it used to have. Sure, there are some amazing series (Breaking Bad), but all it is now is dry humor, sexual references, and stale plots that just don't grab me.

Anime is kinda the same way, but at least it's charming enough to keep watching.

I heard there was a live-action Ouran High School Host Club... Which I heard sucked.

Oh yeah, I've watched a couple episodes of that. It did suck.

You'd think they'd eventually get it right. I mean, there have been good live action video game adaptions.

Well, there have been some debatablely good live-action MOVIES based on cartoons.

Like, uh... Yeah, never mind, I got nothing.

Thing is, they're two VASTLY different mediums, animation and live-action. The problem isn't that they do the transition WRONG, it's that they do it at all. It's bound to fail.

Basically this. I did grew up with anime more due to Dragonball Z and Toonami. Sorry, I fixed it for me to explain my point of view. Not a lot of live action last past of seasons though. Many I see lasts about 5, really good lasts 10, and the greats last more; that's what I see sometimes.

I would say Supernatural is good due to it lasting 8 seasons and still going, but it shows on The CW, which is not a major network like NBC or ABC that have more viewers on average than CW, so their on viewer numbers are lower. You might like the comic version that Walking Dead is based from. Many people who like to watch the show says it's better, but much more violent. Yes! Another Whovian! I'd say Doctor Who is my favorite show ever, even when David Tennant is not the Doctor anymore. It use to be the 1st Ben 10, though that one is because I couldn't decide between my cartoons that I use to watch.

To expand my original post here, I'll say this:

Cartoons: I still watch some cartoons now, but not as much, it has to appeal to younger generations now.

Anime: This one I enjoy more with its more mature story, graphics, and being better drawn than most cartoons. It does get stupid with some anime's superabundant use of perverted or fanservice comedy.I can handle a little, but not too much, but I still enjoy it.

This is not that much expanding, though I explained my point in a little more detail.

Also, who's in your profile pic, I think I recognize it.

Most of the time, I prefer to watch anime (considering I grew up with Pokemon, YGO, Naruto and some other stuff). Cartoons are okay, but I'm a college student and shouldn't be watching cartoons as much. Anime is a different story though, since the context is something that appeals to older viewers (by this, I mean those of us in high school and beyond). For the purposes of this post, Pokemon is an anime, even though some people may classify it in cartoons.

I'm not a real fan of live action/reality shows; there are a few that I do like, but for the most part, I generally avoid these types of shows since sometimes, that's not actually what happens. (The exceptions are the news though, since they're actually real)

On topic, I really appreciate a good cartoon, and I don't really like most of the animes airing these days. Live-action series is different though. I can't stand their filler episodes usually(and there'll be a lot of them even in a plot-centric series), but everything focused on the main story will make me stay in my seat.

But honestly, I spend most of my TV time by watching documentaries and News.
