DARK/Dragon/Fusion/Level 7/2600 ATK/1700 DEF

"Dark Magician Girl" + 1 Dragon-Type monster
Must be Fusion Summoned with the above Fusion Material Monsters or with "The Eye of Timaeus", and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can send 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard, then target 1 face-up card on the field; destroy that target.

Guys, I'm pretty sure this isn't an April Fool's Day joke.

Would be a fairly lame April Fools joke, considering it's so close to what we already know, and it isn't too different from what you would expect. Something interesting is how they say "any future Fusion Monster that names a “Dark Magician” monster as a Fusion Material Monster would also work with The Eye of Timaeus!" Makes it sound like they're going to print more DM fusions. Or maybe they're just hyping it up.

DMGDK and Eye of Timaeus confirmed garbage tier. At least there's still Berserker Soul and Dreadscythe to look forward to.

I'm glad they didn't break it. It actually makes some cool combos when you have this and Dark Paladin on the board at the same time, assuming you can do it without any trouble in the first place

Amulet Dragon

Problem is it's a minimum of 3 cards to play them both, and neither of them stop traps, except something like Fiendish Chain.

Amulet Dragon

It's still a major minus, and DMGDK is a net 0 when using its effect.

At first I thought you might be able to use this and Skilled Dark Magician to pop Supreme Arcanite onto the field, but re-checking the Prisma ruling axed that idea. Amulet Dragon was shitty tbh.

So? It's still a potent effect.

And you never know about Amulet Dragon.

Konami is known for giving anime cards effects they didn't have in the anime.

So stop being a Negative Nancy and enjoy the nostalgia.

Yeah, it would need to specifically list Skilled Dark Magician as a material to be able to do that I believe.

Nostalgia? I'd rather have relevant cards that have the potential to be used in tier 2 if not tier 1 than the hollow "nostalgia" of slapping a recognizable name on a drink coaster. Amulet will probably suck if this is the way Konami is going about things.

Yeah it has to specifically list it, same as Prisma. It's a shame, too, because this could have brought back Fusion decks if they had just made Timaeus generic, or at least Type-based.

Well, we finally get her and Timaeus as cards, so I'm not exactly complaining.  If any of the Legendary Dragon Fusions can realistically be expected to be tier, it's likely the Critias Fusions, if they aren't nerfed too hard.

If you want a card game that isn't heavily influenced by the nostalgia factor, you're in the wrong card game.  Also, the effects she and Timaeus got were definitely better than what I was expecting.

Dude, cards doesn't have to be tiered to be cool.

A year ago, if you told me that the Legendary Dragons and their Fusions would be released, I would have flipped my lid.

NO ONE expected these anime-exclusive cards to be coming out until recently, and while this little lass isn't the best, she isn't crap, either.

Her destruction effect can be used pretty much AT ANY TIME, and she doesn't use dinky Xyz Materials.

Plus, she's Dark Magician Girl ON A FREAKING DRAGON!!! How awesome is that?!?

So stop whining and being so serious.

This is a game, remember?

Something you have fun with?

The overwhelming majority of the current playerbase that buys the most product has never seen the anime.

Nostalgia really doesn't move product in this game the way it does in M:tG, I'm friends with enough vendors to know that much.

Cite your sources.
I've been playing this game since Starter Deck Yugi in 2002.
And this is the first time I've heard of these "facts" about the game I love.

As someone who watched the Waking the Dragons arc as my absolute favorite in the history of the anime, this card is severely disappointing because I know it will never see use, even in a Tier 2 deck.

I want cards that I liked to be GOOD, not just... Meh.

If that's true, it certainly explains some things I've observed.

Pretty much this. I think there's like a grand total of 15-20 people I know in all of the locals I attend, from San Diego all the way up to Reno, that have even seen non-Zexal series. That's 15-20 out of at least 1500 people if my Facebook groups are even close to accurate.

Sources? Talking to the thousands of players at events I go to, from locals to foreign YCS to Worlds. Seeing vendor stats for product orders; LCs, Starters/Reloadeds and anime-related merch such as sleeves/mats/boxes have abysmal sell numbers. This is why you see so much of it end up in dollar stores or third party repacks at retail stores. Also if I recall correctly, Konami asks most of their deck profile interviewees if they watch the anime and the majority have never seen anything but the latest series, and aren't fans of it.

Same here. Unless you have evidence, stick a cork in it.

If this were true, they wouldnt continue to make more Yugioh Anime >_>

Wow so many people jumping on my dick. The anime has excellent Nielsens among the younger age brackets. It's also incredibly popular in Japan among the same age group. They don't buy the majority of product but they still make up a small chunk because parents buy what their children want.

IDGI how is nostalgia even an argument

I mean, you want nostalgia?

Harpie Channeler, who gives you a reason to use Pet Dragon.

Dark Magician of Illusions who at least technically gives a reason to use DM.

Even better? Maiden with Eyes of Blue

It's blatantly Kisara, but it's an actually playable card.

This... is bad. It doesn't work with Prisma ala NEX/Transmodify given the wording, I'm pretty sure. It's a 1-4-1 that eats your advantage ala Scrap Dragon, and while this is inherently fine, you're wasting advantage to get it out at all bar Dragon's Mirror, which a deck that runs presumably Prisma, DMG, and Dragon's Mirror sounds inconsistent as hell. Timaeus in't worth it because it's a glorified Rank-Up Magic but somehow less generic.

Unless Legend of Heart is zomg, it looks like a nigh useless duo.

Oh well, I guess Gagagas can play the Illusions Variant and go into Dark Paladin... thus wasting a magician of illusions.

Armor monsters are my number 1 wishlist thing to get from the anime. So much potential with Psychic Armor Head and Big Bang Blow...

But yeah, Black up there summed it up pretty well. Nostalgia-based cards can be good, this one isn't.
