Celebrity Leaks (NO PICS)

Discuss celebrity leaks

So basically within the past few days, a bunch of celebrities got hacked or something and their nude photos were released out into the big bad internet.

No, don't post the pics here.
No, don't link to articles (they may have links)

So now there's a big brouhaha over what's going on. Is iCloud security not that great? Do you feel bad for the ladies or do you now consider them whores and tramps for taking nude photos of themselves? Do they have some expectation of privacy or since their celebrities they should just forget that?

So discuss security, opinions on actresses, the status of celebrity in general, the concept of sending nude photos, and all that other stuff.

NOTE: DO NOT POST LINKS, DO NOT POST PICTURES, DO NOT POST ARTICLES.

Also please refrain from telling us about what you did while looking at these photos, even if it was a joke (especially since no one here is really that funny). YCM doesn't need to know these sorts of things.

As far as I am concerned, the moment something is on the Internet, its not safe. Yeah, everyone is touting Cloud Storage to be the future but as with all Online, there is vunerabilities. Also the NSA gets a copy of everything that is uploaded too. Don't think that deleting that Facebook Photo is going to work, they have it all. This is why I often use fake names when signing up to Forums and the like. I also very rarely E-Mail anymore also.

Personally, I don't really care for celebrities; at the end of the day, they're still normal people (just that people tend to follow & copy them for their own reasons).

As a result, even if I did find the pics somewhere, wouldn't bother looking.

Security-wise, this does have the effect of making sure we're careful about what we decide to post on social media or wherever. That's why I have severe locks on my Facebook; don't post exact data of self (granted I did give a bit in that AMA of mine, but only that I live in the only island state of the USA), not giving out my real name and definitely not posting nude photos of self.

Okay, leaking someone's nude photos is a horrible thing, it's utterly wrong and sick. If someone wants to take those pictures, that's their business, it's perfectly fine. No one deserves to have their naked bodies on display without consent like that. Heck I don't even like non-nude photos being taken without consent.

That being said, that's the sucky thing about the internet. Everything you do is vulnerable. Nothing is safe, and privacy is disturbingly hard to come by.

Basically, it's terrible that it happened. And it's a sad truth that people have to be so careful about whatever they do, for fear of it being shown to the public and ridiculed or worse.

I do believe they were told they deleted before they were leaked. I had no idea about this until I saw the news (Although several of the people I follow on Twitter joked about it).

Nothing is safe really, especially if there's a 3rd party involved in holding the files. There's always a risk that someone can get in and leak them.

I honestly don't understand people that now judge or have completely changed their opinions on these celebrities. They're just nudes like any other girlfriend or boyfriend are inevitably going to send to each other in private.

I for one just think it shows they're a little more human ahahaha, must make them feel completely on edge about everything they do now. Looks like Jennifer got it the worst. Poor girl.

The funniest part is the discussion about prosecuting people who click on it. I mean what the f***? When did the internet become so security obsessed all of a sudden. There is far, far worse things out there on the internet (mainly on reddit) and people do s*** like this to other people all the time.

But God forbid it happens to a celebrity, the world has to stop turning all of a sudden and direct all of its attention to the matter. I appreciate what the celebrities have said themselves about privacy issues and making people feel bad about looking at them but at the end of the day people on the internet can and will do whatever they want.

THEIR photos got leaked, they have to face the consequences. Not saying it was their fault necessarily but they chose to take those pictures and they were aware of the risks. I do feel sorry for them and I wouldn't wish for this to happen to my girlfriend or heck, to anyone, but at the end of the day the people involved have to face the consequences rather than attempt to guilt-trip and punish people who looked at the pictures.

Btw if anyone is interested and can't find any, PM me for links :^)

Was reading through a sea of posts on another site last night.

Apparently, a celebrity using iCloud had been hacked in the past because iCloud kept photos she deleted years ago, and the hacker found them.

That said, why are people still keeping those kind of photos of themselves on iCloud despite that?

If a site can hold your pics forever after you delete them, that's a red flag right there that you shouldn't be using it for personal stuff. Aren't there better services to store photos?

Concerning the photos themselves, apparently, TMZ tried to buy the photos from the leaker...those people are disgusting.

Also, I hope none of these women apologize because none of them did anything that a normal person wouldn't do behind closed doors when the public isn't looking.

These women are the victims and it was their right to take those photos and keep them wherever they wanted without fear of being hacked, just like the rest of us.

Concerning the FBI investigation, I wonder if they gave this level of urgency to every person who wasn't a celebrity and got their nude photos stolen and made public.

I have yet to see any of these pictures or read up on this...so I'm just chalking this up as 90% of the other "celeb nudes" we find on the internet and claim fakes.

Also, since when could mods freely read our PMs?! My PMs are NSFW. o.o

I don't know what kind of nonsense he's trying to spread. Moderators can't do a thing to your private conversations unless you invite them there in some way.

That's what I though. Don't want the mods to have their eyes burned out seeing my nudes or anything.

"Also, it is strictly prohibited to breach privacy of anyone, whether they be a member of YCM or not. You may not post any real-world information, like full names, addresses, etc., and, notably including, logs of IM conversations, private messages (if a PM breaks a rule, PM a moderator directly - do not quote it on the forum), emails or other such information without express permission of all parties involved."

They really can't do anything unless you ask them to, when it comes to PMs.

Not really sure why this is getting the attention it is versus every other celeb nude leak.  I guess it's a hot button issue right now.

I don't condone the leaking of private photographs, but I'd wager that if it were Chris Pratt's nudes, we wouldn't be having this conversation.  because everyone would be fapping to it

I just don't understand why people take nude photos of themselves to begin with. I'm never sending my girlfriend a dick pic or expecting anything like that from her, it's just stupid to me. I know people do it and my perception of these celebs haven't changed, but still, I personally don't get it.

I do feel bad for these women though. Absolutely no one deserves this massive invasion of privacy.

hypocritically, you bet your a*s I looked up JLaw, she's in my celeb trifecta

Daemon's answered that at length before, I'm pretty sure.

I don't condone the hackers. I don't condone the people willingly searching to see these images. And I don't condone anyone who blames the victims in this situation.

It's not their fault someone hacked and stole their private information, no matter if they created the images or not.

Actually, I believe Super Mods can join PMs, though maybe only if you report it. LZ did it once a while back because some member was harassing another by PM, but of course we don't check your PMs to look for stuff.

Some of the celebs have admitted that they were real, I believe.
