We don't use letters, but if you made the education system conversions I'd be an A+ student~

Though, I fucked up in Biology, and I have what would be an A-/B+. I'm an all-around good learner, and I'm great with Math, so I don't have many problems.

Care to open this wider to discussing their importance, do you believe that they should hold the weight they do, and other things like that?

Yeah, lol, otherwise this is just a bragging thread. I wasn't trying to brag at all, nope. I'm actually happy with my education system. If I slack too much, my marks drop, and I should work harder to bring my marks higher, cuz although I'm technically and A+ student, my marks are in the low 90s.

My smart Aix. <3 We can work on Biology together

Ahem, anyway. When I went to school I had basically all A-B grades. Until I gave up on everything and didn't go to school. (Skipped half the days, late many others, didn't do work.) And then I ended up with mostly Cs.

Don't ask me how.

But, I must say to everyone, do NOT give up and slack off. That drop in GPA has seriously hindered my ability to get into college.

Grades are a bad way of measuring how much you know, but in the current society they are very important to have a better future.

Though you can do well without as well.

I was a straight A student with only 1 B in high school, but when I started college (Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, #1 undergrad engineering school in the country), during orientation the school's president gave a speech where one thing he said was that if you an A student in high school you'd get C's at Rose, and he was right in my case. Shit's tough.

C's get degrees is the code by which I live my life.  Especially considering that it really does not matter at all in my field.

I try to get A's when I can to keep the University off my back and ensure I don't lose financial aid and all that.

Currently at a 3.07 I believe.

The thing with this, is it's not too wrong. As I said before, my GPA drop really hurt me for future endeavors.

It seems a big thing they look for is GPA improvement overtime. Basically if you keep around a C-B and then get some As then they see your improvement as a good sign you'll do well.

my question right now is (seeing like all of you knowing what your gpa is): am i the youngest person on this site (15)?

in  middle schools i got mostly a's and b's and like 2 or 3 f's through out the last two years (for the f's). i know i'm flunking in history cause i got a 0 as a test grade, in language arts i'm doing around a b, low a or high b in math and i haven't had science yet (cause my school's scheduling is fucked up).

I'm usually an A-B student with the occasional C every once in awhile. I have an A in English Language Arts, a B in Earth Science, an A in Robotics, an A in Band, a B in Math( our teacher weighs our grades in this class), an A in French, an A in Physical Education, and a B in Louisiana History.

You're not the youngest, I'm 14. I got 6% on A Science assignment I didn't finish, but I got a B in Science.

I don't like Science.

huh. I didn't like language arts until this year and will probably go back to not liking cause no teacher can ever be as nice or caring as the one i have right now. and like i said, i'm flunking history; but it's not cause i don't like the class, i do, it's cause i'm a lazy asshole. i'm probably gonna hate my science teacher (he's supposedly the most boring teacher in the school) so that'll be fun.

In high school, more or less kept a 3.3 GPA or higher.

I graduated in 2012 with a 3.6, if that actually still means something. (Not IB/AP courses though)

College-wise, probably somewhere in the B-C range for GPA.

I can probably blame calculus (first attempt) and some sciences for some Ds/Fs bringing it down. (Screw you, professor [x, y], for being an ass on final exam and making it go down)

It's not that I suck at the courses (compared to a lot of my peers who graduated with me, I'm in the higher grouping), but rather the courses are hard as hell . Then again, you get the occasional jackass for an instructor that gives tons of homework [especially online] and doesn't give adequate help for it. I've gotten a few of them.

[I'm in Civil & Environmental Engineering though, so I have to take these classes at the main university. If I had a choice, I'd take stuff at the community college since classes are a little easier (but I can't since some of them will not go over). Blame the university system here for being full of it at times when dealing with transferring credits]

English/language/history courses seem to be fine though; I know I've done VERY well in history classes during college so far.

I have to take Hawaiian studies though (or some Asia-Pacific course) because I live here; but I don't mind. That's actually okay with me.

Overall, I have "decent" grades; if you consider the kind of stuff I have to put up with.

Right now, probably 2.9ish; suspect it dropped after finals this past week.

Also, I apologize for the swearing.

The only problem I ever had with the education system is, it doesn't actually prepare you for life that and my Sixth Form went on repeatedly about Uni being the only thing to do after it. Grades might get you on to courses, and might get you a look in when going for jobs, but work experience is just as, if not more important than grades I've found, if you want to go for the better jobs.  I would have prefered to get more apprenticeship options.

Y'all should put it into context because an A in the US isn't impressive while in England it's solid

Unless you're talking about uni, where A's in the US depending on class and school are extremely impressive.

I'm generally AB or B in college, though I've had 2 D's in geology and psychology classes. Really quickly dropped those as possible majors. Apparently I don't try at science classes.

in Uni the US on average is a huge place for grade inflation
