This card can be wonderful in a Tribute based Deck, since it doesn't banish itself, you can get it out every turn pretty much. I wonder why they decided to boost Rock-Type and didn't do the same for other types previously when new Archetype got out that used uncommon Types, because it makes the Decks much more interesting.

Who cares about tributing with it ... it turning EVERY level 3 rock monster you control into a rank 3 (also including gorgonic guardian and steel soldier) is what matters ... this card single-handedly turns level 3 rock monsters into monsters which are actually decent, not to mention block golem also exists.

This is faaaar more than I expected and actually really solid support in every way one could imagine, which is actually refreshing after the "shocking" effect of that neo blue-eyes.

I am not dismissing that it's a Rank 3 machine, but I didn't find that necessary to say when it's quite obvious in the first place.

to be perfectly honest I don't know why this has a Hard OPT.  I understand it's to prevent the loops but to be perfectly honest Rank 3 Rock Spam pretty much doesn't even exist.  Chain dog is still at 3 and plays in a deck that can actually abuse it fairly well, but this thing is just a recurring level 3 so long as you only play rocks, and it's not like they don't already have a ton of walls.

It's still good, but based on the fact that you need to solely need to control rocks, and you can only make rocks using it in order to loop it, I don't really see the point of the hard OPT besides future proofing against a threat that will probably never exist, considering just how limited the Rank 3 and Synchro rock-type pool is.

Chain Dog has 2 more restrictions than this, and also has the potential to be a ticking time bomb.

This not so much. It's a very strong card that does something good enough. Besides, do you really WANT your opponent to go "I control X Level 3s, I make X Gorgonic Guardians"?

Fair enough.  I suppose an ever expanding field of Gorgonic Guardians is not the most fun thing to stare down.

So... Is Rock-Type now doomed to no longer getting any good Xyzs?

The only thing holding Chain Dog back, honestly, is the fact Beast is a Type that's typically ignored and/or forced into the Raccoon-dogma.

So so Giant Soldier of Stone gets a remake, but Silver Fang, Time Wizard, and Marshmallon don't.

Also the picture makes it look more Machine-like, but that could just be me.

Marshmallon did.

Time Wizard is technically a Joey card.

Silver Fang is not more iconic than GSoS...
