◇ Void ◇
Barrel Dragon was my first boss monster, and remains a personal favourite despite its luck-dependent, lacklustre effect and inferior stats compared to certain other dragons. It was time it was given a superior form for the ARC-V epoch. Machine / Synchro / Pendulum / EffectLevel 11 / DARK / 11 / 11ATK: 3600 / DEF: 3100 Pendulum Effect: When you declare a Pendulum Summon: Toss a coin 3 times; this turn, you can only Pendulum Summon 1 monster for each Head result. This effect cannot be negated. When a coin toss is performed, except for the effect of “Superpositioned Isotope Barrel Dragon”: Negate the toss, and if you do, the result becomes Heads. Normal Effect:1 Tuner Synchro Monster + "Barrel Dragon"Once per turn: Toss a coin 3 times, then target 1 face-up monster on the field for each Heads result; this turn, they are unaffected by other card effects, except their own. When this card declares an attack: Toss a coin, and if the result is Heads, it can attack your opponent directly, but this cards ATK becomes 2600 during damage calculation only. If this card in the Monster Zone is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can destroy as many cards in your Pendulum Zones as possible (min. 1), and if you do, place this card in your Pendulum Zone. Artwork is a self-modified version of Vorpal Cannon Dragon from "Cardfight! Vanguard". Template is modified version of Grezar’s Series 9 DX Template. The Nyx Avatar
It seeems pretty tricky to Summon. First off, you need Barrel Dragon. Second off, you need a Level 4 Synchro Tuner. To my recollection, the only one out there to use is Phonon Pulse Dragon. So while the scale may seem ridiculous, getting this monster on the field's no easy feat. It also has some nice coin flip effects; one that protects and one that allows direct attacks. Plus nice ATK and DEF to boot.
Flash Flyer - Sakura
You also forgot about Crystron Quondam, Nyx; as in the new Archetype from Invasion of Pendulum. But that in mind, you need to actually get Barrel Dragon out on the field (which is still probably Tribute Summoning or whatever Deck that can run Scale 8 to get this out more often than not). Then again, unlike the original Barrel Dragon, this is more of a defensive monster (since it's giving effect immunity instead of popping monsters). Granted, the direct attack effect is nice, but it's still luck-reliant (if you can use Second Coin Toss). Then again, the Pendulum effect is rather strange and restrictive. I get that it is a Scale 11, but outside of maybe the God cards [barring Ra] and the EBIs (and some Cardians) [Level 10s]; all of the other Main Deck targets for this (any 8/9 monsters ) are Nomi-class, not worth summoning or simply have no synergy with this card. I think you should remove the coin flip / luck thing. Forcing a Heads result every time is nice though, but again, question is how are you summoning this card realistically? Flash Flyer - Sakura
Wouldn't work, as it requires a non-Tuner Synchro you control and a regular monster in Graveyard to be the Tuner; Barrel Dragon isn't a Synchro Monster. When an opponent's monster declares an attack on a Synchro Monster you control: Negate the attack, then you can banish that Synchro Monster you control and 1 Tuner monster from your Graveyard, and if you do, Special Summon from your Extra Deck, 1 Synchro Monster whose Level equals the total Levels of those banished monsters. (This Special Summon is treated as a Synchro Summon.)
Dragulas
Wouldn't work, as it requires a non-Tuner Synchro you control and a regular monster in Graveyard to be the Tuner; Barrel Dragon isn't a Synchro Monster. Actually it does, banishing the tuner and non tuner synchro, though they act as the materials, they are not supposed to be the synchro you attempt to summon materials , it bypasses almost (if not all) synchro monster requirments, Last time i checked you can even bring quasar with KS. Flash Flyer - Sakura
I probably read that as Nyx implying Barrel Dragon could be used as material with this using King's; must've been thinking of something else when I wrote that. But outside of that, King's Synchro can summon this and get around other material requirements. So yeah, it's fine. General thoughts on the card though? Draconus297
I like how this lets you Pendulum Summon Nirvana High Paladin in addition to all its other goofiness. This is a fantastically fun card, if still admittedly not on everyone else's power level. Here's why: First, limiting you to a max PS of 3 is a really hefty restriction, especially considering that many Pendulum Decks (Pals, Qli, and our Normal Fire duo especially) would just want to drop a PS 5 for their extensive Extra Deck plays. The "any coin toss becomes Heads" is about as hilarious as it sounds, especially because it makes an option of quite a few interesting chance-based cards (Cup of Ace especially comes to mind), and it's optional so that your opponent can't abuse it. The Summoning conditions are tricky, as was said before, although I would like to add in the option of things like Uni-Zombie and Level Eater to adjust Barrel Dragon up or down in Level if you so desire, and of course there's always Formula Synchron, which by its own effect can become Level 10, 8, 7, 6, 4, 3, 2, or hilariously 0 [Level 5 Synchro Tuner that can raise or lower its Level by the Level of any Synchron you send from your Deck to the Graveyard]. The only tricky part in this is Barrel Dragon, which honestly isn't worth it in most situations and is clunky to Summon. However, as stated before, King's Synchro is an option, allowing any RDA Deck, certain Performapal builds, or quite a few other Decks to Summon this handily without Barrel Dragon. Its protection effect is eh, although multi-protection is quite interesting. Don't know what to say here tbh. As for the option of direct-attacking on a coin flip for slightly decreased damage . . . it's kinda random, and frankly would have seen use as a way to toy with Kozmo if it weren't tied to random chance. It's a mess of meh and possibility, so I honestly don't know what to say.
Snatch Steal
Honey I love you but this is such a huge-lookin ass textwall that it's really uncomfortable to review. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Although a detriment to the effect, you don't declare a Pendulum Summon, contrary to what the rulebook states. It's an inherent summon, so it doesn't start a chain. You declare the summon once you put the monsters on board, like you don't say "I'm going to Xyz Summon" and wait for response. You can make it so that you can't Pendulum Summon without it, though. The rest of the effect is cool, because it makes your luck more consistent. You can't negate a toss, I believe, but you can negate the effect and re-toss, probably. The problem with the first monster effect is that if you can't target as many monsters as possible...what do you do? Like, Dracossack has to summon 2 tokens, and can't if you control 4 monsters, so you'd have to make this effect so that you have to choose as many as possible. The next effect is funny, although if there's no meta business, I wonder if 2600 directly would be a hassle. Fortunately, you'd have to be playing excessive coin toss support to pull it off most of the time. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– All in all, it's a cute boss monster that would be nice to use as a token or in your fun deck. I almost wonder if it's anime material.
